Posted March 18, 200817 yr For me this is a real loss to British cinema. The stand out films in terms of being high profile are obviously 'The English Patient', 'The Talented Mr Ripley' and 'Cold Mountain' with, for me, 'The English Patient' being nothing short of a masterpiece (and that is coming from someone who thinks the book is a stunning piece of work by one of the finest authors alive and was therefore very worried about the film!) However I also loved 'The Storyteller' TV series, although as much for the Henson muppets as Minghella's writing. (Mr Wonderful we can pretend never happened!) Only 54 when he died of a brain hemorrhage whilst having what is supposed to have been a pretty routine operation. Really tragic.
March 18, 200817 yr Totally agree Loz. An exceptional talent and such a tragic early end to his life. Rest In Peace Anthony Minghella
