Personally, my views on him have changed a fair bit from when he was England manager. Seems a lot more suited to club-level football than internationals if you ask me. I never really followed what he did with Lazio, but he was obviously successful with them as well. Wouldn't be a terrible choice as new manager in my opinion (ducks-for-cover).

at club level he's a good manager, works with the players day in, day out, which makes the difference rather than a few days a month at national level

Seriously speaking, he's been quite succesful in club football, even when he hasn't had huge amounts of money to build the team with. UEFA Cup win with Göteborg is probably his most remarkable achievement. He's won league titles and cups at most of the clubs he's been at.

Very good coach when he puts his mind to it. When he's approaching the end of a job his record is not very good.

and if he builds a side with the equivalent attacking talent of nedved, veron, crespo, mancini etc then who wouldn't be happy? I'd take him.
