So a few days ago, there was a rumor doing the rounds that our most beloved Barca swine, Samuel Eto'o, was being courted by a club in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. And in virtually ever forum I saw, it was the punchline of the week that these no hopers were after him.

Apparrently the rumor stemmed from the club itself. Have a look:

In addition, we invited Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto'O from Barcelona for master-class and negotiations about his possible participation in Kuruvchi team. The striker will arrive to Tashkent on July 17th and if the negotiations is successfull he will play in the second half of championship of Uzbekistan. In our view, this great football player is well known by you. The greatest benefit from him the staff of Kuruvchi is waiting in the games of AFC Champions League 2008.

but wait, there is yet more!

The next step would be the date 20th – 21st of July. These days in Tashkent will arrive the new champions of Europe, players of Barcelona. Namely, the best player of European championship – 2008 midfielder Xavi, and also one more midfielder Andres Iniesta and defender Carlos Puyol. They come to show master-class which hopefully will develop football in Uzbekistan.

And really, why not? If youre gonna get Eto'o to Tashkent, might as well get them all. Mind you, they might be a bit loath to go from playing here:

Then this afternoon, BBC posts this:

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o is travelling to Uzbekistan to talk to the country's leading club, with Kuruvchi reportedly ready to put together a $40m deal. "I'm planning to return to Barcelona and starting from Saturday, I will consider all my options, including the one from Kuruvchi," said Eto'o. (Reuters, 1827 BST)

i dont think there is a smiley to appropriately convey the shock on my face

Needless to say it would never happen, but how sweet would it be if that prick left Europe for good to play his football in the middle of Central Asia.

An update on this story (if anyone actually cares)

The alleged wage for a year long contract for Eto'o? 620,000/week :o

Thats nearly 90,000 a DAY :o :o :o

Supposedly their plan is to get a big star from Europe with all that fat cash and let him take them over the top in the Asian Champs League. Not unlike alot of Western businessmen who spend a year or two in Dubai to build up a nice nest egg before coming back home.

And people say we are ruining the transfer market B)
