Just happened in Holland during the KNVB Beker (Dutch version of FA Cup). An idiot jumps on the field, wants to kick goalkeeper Esteban, he is defending himself like a boss, the ref shown the goalie a red card.

Crazy!

That looks like assault by the keeper, to me. Literally kicking a man while he's down.

Wasn't another player shown a red card for stopping a pitch invader this season?

A colleague of mine was at that match yesterday. The idiot storming the pitch was a drunk idiot, and the general concensus seems to be that Esteban gave a few more kicks than absolutely neccessary for self-defense. The Players' Union are pressing for the red card to be rescinded.
