Yet the same set up handled griezmann with alonso and Gary on the same side, I don't like Gary for his inability to defend 1 on 1 but this system rarely leaves a CB 1 on 1

Firstly VM offers almost nothing in terms of final ball, Dave has a bunch of assists already from CB, secondly, we play on the break city had extra rest and a home game they will try and blow us away, lastly Fab is playing as a forward why would that impact us defensively, you essentially said we are too defensive but weak defensively....? This is a brilliant team, best we coudl field.

I've been asking for this line up for a while, swap Garry for Luiz and this is our strongest team.

Looking at this new formation I have to say I like it but it could be better filled with personnel, we have 2 forward, fab isn't a forward and our wingbacks are our weakest players, for me VM did very little against atletico, he just doesn't offer enough, he isn't the quality to grow with this Chelsea team, if we are going to have Willian and Pedro on the bench with this formation rotating for one spot (fabs) why can't we convert Willian into a rwb? He has the pace and the engine, he is a far better footballer than Victor, seems like a possible way to get a bit more quality on the pitch, or alternatively get Dave at rwb, because that team in that formation could beat anyone with two top class wingbacks, there isn't another weakness in that team (maybe GC for Rudiger) and I think we would match anyone. For me if we ever get Sandro and move dave to rwb, I think that is one of the top teams in Europe.

Aguero is a dirty little bar steward who goes into injure players on one hand couldn't happen to a nicer guy but I'd still never wish that on any player, hope the little bar steward is ok

Mendy out ACL so we will see Danilo, for me he is a top player but that's judging more on his Porto days, having said that first big PL game after being bench warming won't be easy for him , still the same 2 subpar CB's, so for sure they can be got at. This has a 2-1 feel for me, if we can shut them out I think we can score, we are the right type of team to beat them petty the FA f**ked us, who gives a days rest after a CL away game.

Totally agree you'll never appreciate a number 9 for example fully until you see him in person, same with defensive players keeping shape and cutting out the channels. I only got to a few games last year and seeing kante in the flesh is always another experience, phenomenal player, but it also depends where you're sitting if you are longside in a good seat it's the best place to understand the game, away section is normally crap viewing, especially last night the away section is miles up and back and a big net in the way. To me I kept seeing that the link up between cesc over to morata even hazard kept getting snuffed too easily by atletico players crowding the area in the middle in front of the box, looked frustrating game side but in the tv everything looked much smoother. You also could see how high a line they had at times with no outfield players in their half, also at the end it was obvious we had to push out more, we were inviting a bit too much pressure, don't think that showed as much in the replays I watched. Im not sure if Alonso was just really tired at the end when shooting towards us I had seen him before and he was pretty slow but last night second half he looked nearly immobile, few times tracking back he was miles off the pace, I was surprised griezman couldn't employ him and Garry for pace, that's another player btw when he was shooting our side first half, it's scary every time he makes a run, first time I've seen him live, the way the guy moves is another level. Because ive only watched bits of the game I didn't see how VM looked first half, to me he was basically out of the game for huge periods waste of a position. I think when I get time I'll watch the full 90.

Well I was in the away section and we all cheered him on the pitch, seems everyone has a soft spot for him

I never realised how well we played until I got home and watched, I'm an advocate for live football as you see what's happening off the ball more but the away section is miles up and obscured by a net, doesn't make for great viewing. It was obvious we were dominating play but like I said didn't truly appreciate how good we were until I got back and watched it.

The away fans were right behind the goal for the luiz pen Noone round me saw it or who it was, just looked like normal tussling, but all night the atletico players were going over like big wet blouses rolling around wasting time, but to be fair luiz won a free kick second half and he went down holding his face which was a bit embarrassing

You have to imagine that if we beat Roma next the top spot is in the bag not accounting for any freak occurrences, we would be on 9 points, while athletico would likely be on 4 and Roma on 4 the Qarabag is almost a guaranteed 3 points so with 5 points to play with and atletico and Roma to play each other we could take it easy in those two games and still be top.
