If that was the case it would surely have been brought up at the Tribunal and would have been your starting point. Your chairman wrote in reply to a question from one of our fans, and it was here that the couple of hundred thousand was apparently mentioned.
I think that we were being entirely reasonable with our demands - it was certainly less than £5m, and, knowing that the Tribunal usually reduces this to a midway point. What I can't understand is that you apparently only offered a couple of hundred thousand!! What's that, a week's wages for some of your so called stars?
Exeter fan here and the feeling is that we have totally been shafted. It makes me wonder why we try to run an academy when we only get a pittance for a player of this quality.
You have done yourselves no favours at all with regard to your public relations - you could have paid a fair fee in the first instance. Equally it shows just how Tribunals can be bullied by the Premiership.
When are Chelsea actually going to pay for Ampadu? He was fully developed over a 9 year period at Exeter and Exeter have yet to receive a penny for the transfer.
DISGRACEFUL!!!!!
If you were selling Ampadu now, based on some of the crap that you willingly pay £30m for, surely you would want at least £20m for him. Petty? Even £3m is a lot for Exeter City and the fact that you have withheld a payment for six months sadly speaks volumes of the attitude prevailing at Premiership level. It's no wonder that most genuine football fans in the Football League refer to the Premiership as the Premiersh*te.
I still consider Ethan Ampadu to be an Exeter City player. He's not yours until he's paid for! I believe Exeter were only asking £3m. Because you wouldn't pay up it will now go to Tribunal, and I hope that Tribunal teaches you a lesson in stinging you for a lot more!
We know he's currently the best teenager in the Country and your name is mud at Exeter.
