We should stop putting opposition fans in the bottom tier near the corner flag - to much abuse at corners! - put em back up the top out of the way like we used to

Would like to see the following: ----------------------Cech------------------------ Bossingwa------Ivan---------Terry-----Ash ----------------------Mikel------------------------- --------Essien---------Lampard------------ Kalou--------------Torres------------Benayoun Torres to break his duck?

Florent Malouda
Would be interested to see how many of the chances were scored. My beef with Flo is that it seems like he take to many touches and invariably runs in circles ending up playing the ball backwards when he could have moved the ball on quicker. I also have the perception that his choice of pass is not always great and that he sometimes chooses passes that only benefit him and not the team as a whole (ie the player he passes to has little options available on receiving the ball other than to pass it back to malouda - something that lamps often also does) - not sure that I have articulated that last point very well!

Aimed at who in the team? we had 2 lovely crossed from Paulo and Ryan resulting in goals - my gripe with us when it comes to crosses is that most of the time we cross from to deep - need to progress further towards the byline then whip them in with pace.

Fair Point Big Blue - not sure we would be weaker than liverpool though! of course, there would always be room in the squad (and money left over) for any other additions who would add to the team/squad. My main point is basically that (in my humble opinion) we need a major change in philosophy regarding the style of our play and i think its gonna be difficult to achieve with the many of the current players. He doesnt have long left on his contract ( i think its about a year) - hence my low valuation.

I am sure we could get more - although I am not sure Marseille have that much money to spend, and i would prefer to sell to them for less money than say spurs for 10 mill - but as a minimum i would accept 3-5 mill for a 33-34 yr old player who doesnt have many years left at the top.

I dont agree that chelsea as a team were all that convincing against Birmingham. The early goal settled us for sure but I dont think overall as a team we were that good. Malouda (despite the two goals) didnt contribute much - he is a winger/attacking midfielder, but he rarely takes people on these days, and takes far to many touches (usually resulting in passing the ball backwards) Kalou (lovely finish aside) didnt do much...and lets be honest, if he hit that shot 100 times, 99 % of the time it wouldnt be going anywhere near the goal Essien - to many sideways/backwards passes - not enough attacking drive Drogba - yes he got two assist - I love didier, but he is getting more selfish by the game. shooting from silly angles/distances, holding the ball for to long and seemingly demanding the ball when others are in better positions. Anelka - Not sure who to blame - is it nico's decision to keep dropping deeper and deeper for the ball or is carlo asking him to? at one point he was even deeper than mikel! and why does he need to take 4 or 5 touches before releasing the ball? nico - give and go. not give and jog backwards or stop. Where has the pace gone nic? Torres - well, its clear that he doesnt fit in with the way we play at the moment - it doesnt matter if we use 442, 433, 4,3,2,1 or whatever other variation carlo wants to try. Its about how we use the ball - we play far to slowly and do not release the ball into space for him to run on to. At the moment we play possession football at such a slow pace that the opposition are able to crowd out all the space in and around the box - clearly not playing to his strenghs. I dont really remember a time recently when we play into space, picking out the runs of players for our strikers to run onto. if we want him to succeed we need to change our style (not necessarily formation) 3v1 win was a good result against a team we have often struggled against - but i am dissapointed that our management are not rectifying/addressing the problems with our team.

There is a lot of talk on here about a new RB (maybe Van der Weil) - Personally i really hope we do not splash out on yet another overpriced RB. Look how much we have spent in the past on Paulo, Glen Johnson, Belletti (wages) and Bossingwa - not to mention yuri over the other side. - all of whom are fullbacks and have been deemed not good enough to warrent a full time starting place - We have wasted millions, which could have been spent in areas where players effect the game more. We already have ivan and luiz who can play rb, plus if they get injured we have essien and mancienne or rajkovic who can also do a job there. I hope we save the money and invest further up the field. there is no much wrong with our current defence, but lots wrong in the middle of the park. My view is that there is no need to spend huge amounts of money as we are not far away from having a very good team. However i do think there is major restructuring work needed and some tough decisions to be made - Has carlo got the balls to make them? i dont know ? - I do think carlo (or whoever the manager may be) needs to sort out his coaching and assistant situation so that he and the players are comfortable. We then need work with the boys on our tactics. We have just spent 50 mill on one of the best strikers in the world. We need to play in a style which utilises his strengths - ie quicker play / knocking balls in behind the back line into space for him to run on to. On another note we also seem to have very little ability to switch formation/tactics mid game, and when we do it nearly always fails, so we need to work on this. In regards to changing our style - Our current midfield (however good they are/have been) do not have the skills needed to make the most of our attacking talents. Essien has little vision and cannot pass more then 5 meters. Mikel is the same and gives the ball away to much, ramires has loads of energy but not much technical skill, malouda and anelka are to selfish and fart arse around running in circles then knocking it backwards slowing the play down and lamps (and didier) are also selfish players (both of whom i love but they are not getting younger and we need to move the team forward) To address this i would do the following: Out (with Estimated prices) Bossingwa 5-8 million Paulo free Yuri 5-8 million Essien 10-15 million Anelka 3-5 million malouda 3- 5 million Drogba 3-5 million Hillario free In Toni Kroos 10-15 mill Ashley young 5-10 million Promoted Danny Kakuta PVA Delac That would give as a 1st team squad of: Cech, turnbull, delac Luiz, Ivan, JT, Alex, Ash, PVA, Mancienne (bruma and bertrand as back up) Lamps, Josh, Kroos, Ramires, Mikel, Benayoun Torres, Danny, Ashley Young, Kakuta, Kalou Danny, young and kroos would add pace (and goals) and take the burden off of lamps and allow us to rest him more. We could also give extended playing time to some youngsters (hopefully holding us in good stead for the future), kakuta and kroos add creativity and we would then have torres as the centre attacking focus of the team. Just my 2 pennies worth!
