That is true, and very lucky, but they did have to play Liverpool, Spurs and Everton, which is not exactly a cakewalk. No, it's not the Champions League trophy, but it's a trophy and their fans are entitled to celebrate. I think most realize the team is incredibly flawed and only the fringe (or really drunk) will start talking about world domination or anything like that.

If he really is as close to that comedian as the WBA manager suggested then it's pretty likely Anelka is aware of the connotations of the gesture. WBA has a big chance to act responsibly here, hopefully they don't drop the ball.
