AC Plot Alex Move?

AC MILAN have upped their interest in Alex.

And the defender’s sale will provide Phil Scolari with cash to splash out on Brazil countryman Kleber.

Milan are desperate for a quality centre-back and have also expressed an interest in Arsenal’s William Gallas, 31.

But, at 26, Alex is a much better investment and the Italian club believe they can get the Brazilian for £10million.

That would give Blues boss Scolari funds to buy a replacement — and Santos defender Kleber is a bargain at just £2m.

Scolari gave Kleber his first international cap in 2001. Yet Chelsea face competition from Manchester City, who have the advantage of having Kleber’s friend Robinho already at the club.

Why would we need Kleber? Sure...he'd be a back up player for A. Cole, but he's already 28(turns 29 in April) so even if we got him for £2mil I'm not sure it would be worth it. Scolari has used Ferreira on the left before and now that Mancienne is back we would have a good selection of central defenders(Terry, Carvalho, Ivanovic and Mancienne), even if Alex was sold. I think we should use the money we will get from Bridge and(possibly) Alex to buy Zhirkov and we'd have the left side covered.

If this is true, we need to play hardball with them. I would let Alex go for no less than we got for Bridge. Obviously

Why would a 26 year old CB who regularly performed well in recent history get less than a 28 year old LB who was not getting games?

The big clubs around Europe, Milan, Juve, Madrid, all need defenders. We have a world class one that wants to leave. Not as athletic as Gallas, but certainly better value for money than an overpaid swine like that bar steward. I think Alex would be brilliant in Serie A where his power and FK ability could really shine.

Kenyon has gotten the window off to a good start, offloading Alex for what a defender like him is really worth would be an excellent second move

JT-Riccy-Ivan-Mancienne would more than do the job at CB

edit: yes, agree. Kleber is unneeded. And with Mancienne already getting recalled, I think that is a load of press bollocks
