Carlo Ancelotti will sit his Chelsea squad down to review the damage of the 3-0 defeat by Sunderland upon the players' return from international duty.

Chelsea suffered their heaviest defeat at Stamford Bridge in over eight years on Sunday as Sunderland stunned the Premier League champions.

The Black Cats were full value for the victory and Ancelotti branded the performance as the worst since he took over as manager 18 months ago.

The midweek international friendlies mean the Italian will have to wait to point out where his players went wrong, but he is keen to work out why the Blues performed so poorly.

Bad day

"We have to have a meeting about this on Thursday when they come back from the international break to look at what happened," Ancelotti said.

"I think this was the worst performance since I've been here. The performance was poor today, but in football it can happen if you're not at your best and don't play with your best mentality.

"All the things were wrong. We didn't play how we wanted to, Sunderland showed fantastic spirit and played better.

"We were not able to come back into the game. It was a bad day. We were not able to play our football for 90 minutes, just 15 minutes in the first half."

Hopefully if this happens it has the same effect as the meeting after the Inter game!!! please it can't get worse!!!!!

yes inquest is needed, but it starts wiv some questions for carlo;

1. why did we risk only having 3 centre-backs in the squad - Paulo ok (ish) but its specialist position - if brouma not ready then we shouldve signed a backup

2. ditto midfield, unlucky wiv benayon but yesterday zhirkov and ramires were out-muscled by henderson & catermole, we shouldve had an xtra midfielder too - we got rid of 4 and brought 2 in?

3. tactics should've changed when he realised their game plan, instead of playing plenty of passes in final 2 thirds, where we repeatedly lost the ball, we shouldve gone 422 and hit it long and quick, made their centrebacks chase it, they set up 2 waves of 4 and picked us off, exactly same as scouse did, then hit quick linked play wiv plenty movement

4. why is drogs taking corners?, ridiculous, surely somone else right=footed can take em

5. why wasn't the captain a defender, or maybe mikel - yes we missed jt/lamps a lot but need someone at the heart of things

now some of players need to answer a few questions

drogs - yes you've been ill but you look disinterested most of the time, no long-busting runs?

kalou - not enuf space on here to comment on his performance!

ash/ivan - made thie annual mistakes in same game

time to pull together and get back on it - starting next saturday

carlo, hope you are reading this!

We play with a three man midfield and we have these to chose from:

Lampard

Mikel

Essien

Ramires

Benayoun

Zhirkov

Malouda

Kalou(?)

McEachran

Kakuta

Now the three first are the first choices.

Ramires and Benayoun are the natural 2nd choices.

Zhirkov, Malouda and possibly Kalou can play there as well (atleast the first two).

McEachran and Kakuta are the ones who will try to make a name for themselves.

I think that should be enough for a team.

Right now we are just very unlucky to have players like Benayoun, Lampard and Essien out.

So basically the question to ask Carlo is "why cant you see into the future?"
