As i posted in the gigs thread i went to see Primal Scream perform 'Screamadelica' as a complete concert on Sat night at Olympia. It was fantastic and ive been thinking about it all day really today and just wanted to bring it up. What a great album that was and as much as it summed up its era it still sounds so fresh and vibrant now, as witnessed on Saturday.

For me that album was so important, a real gateway and its so great to see how heralded it has now become and accepted as one of the most defining works of British music of the past 20 years (im not biased !) Ive always loved the Scream, for me they have always been the natural successors to The Clash, not so much musically perhaps but in terms of stance and attitude. One thing you can say about the Scream is that they sure have never been a predictable run of the mill band.

If youve got Screamadelica, (if like me, you are British, in your thirties and have an interest in music, then im sure you have) , give it a spin. And remind yourself of how bloody brilliant this record really is.

Heres a vid of 'Come Together from the concert, not from me sadly (my phone ran out of juice) obviously it doesnt do it justice but its worth a look.

Over and out, just wanted to acknowledge a great important record from a great band. Indulge me!

Next year a remastered cd and boxset is going to be released, which i cant wait for.

20 years? Dear god, thats a bit scary. Such an iconic album, was basically my album for getting ready to for nights out for a year or so. Its still on the memory stick I have for my car stereo and any time one of the songs comes on during random listening I have to listen to the whole album. But it being 20 years just made me feel pretty old.
