NOTW says going back in the summer. Good player, could that mean the end for Mikel or dare I say it Essien? I still have a soft spot for Essien, but the long parts of this season he has been awful.

If that was really the case, I wouldnt be shocked. He has looked good since he came to England, wouldve given us a good, young utility midfielder, and since Newcastle got him for almost nothing, I am sure a bid of 7-8 million might have given them cause to jump at it and immediately triple their investment.

Bet after yesterday they are glad they didnt part with him though

RE: Essien. I dont want to see him go, and he has been off this season (but not all season, recall before our form went to sh*t, he was scoring for fun and carrying the midfield in Frank's absence). But I have always thought that if JM stays at Real Madrid for more than one year, he will be in with an eyewatering bid for Essien. Of all the players Jose might raid us for I always thought he would be the likeliest, and the one who, right now, would give Madrid a huge boost. He would start ahead of Khedira and Diarra and would probably be a fantastic foil to Alonso in the middle.

He is good, but he isn't like Essien. Maybe he is better than Mikel.

I think he is better than Mikel as a holder & can find the back of the net (unlike Mikel)

Man Utd are apparently going for him as well

I cant think why we need him. Mikel/Essien/Luiz can play holding so is there a need for another
