Posted June 9, 201113 yr Dont know too much about this lad http://www.setanta.com/ie/Articles/2011/06/09/Atletico-ace-holds-out-for-Blues-switch/gnid-96992/ Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin has targeted a move to Chelsea after seeing a January switch to the club collapse.Chelsea had a bid turned down for the Uruguay centre-half during the last transfer window and Godin is now hoping that the Blues resurrect their interest and make another attempt to sign him. Godin would jump at the chance to move to Stamford Bridge, but it remains to be seen if an offer will be forthcoming. "In January, Atletico received an offer but the transfer did not happen," Godin revealed. "They had already sold other players and did not want to weaken the team further then. "For Chelsea to still be interested in having me is an honour and means I must be playing well. "Who would not want to play there? To do so would be a step up."
June 9, 201113 yr Was just going to post about this. I don't think we will sign Godin. We already have JT, Luiz, Alex and Ivan as central defenders so why get a fifth one? Maybe he we decide to make Ivan only play as RB, but I can't see that happening. But I have to say that I really like Godin. He's a really good defender. Great in the World Cup as well where Uruguay didn't concede a single goal in the group stages and in the end finished fourth.
June 9, 201113 yr You can tell it's a slow (Chelsea) news day when this kind of rumor comes up. It's not surprising that we were interested in him during January; the way the David Luiz negotiations went, we should've been looking at alternatives. and he's a good player. It's not surprising that he'd still be interested in coming. On the other hand, there's no reason to believe we're still looking for defenders after signing Luiz, and this story doesn't have any hints that we're currently interested in a move.
