Not what we might have hoped. To give the young lads the optimal time you really want us to go deep in the competition, Fulham even if it is at home isn't an easy match.

leeds v man u, and Citeh v Brum...some good draws. Now it's down to Boas to decide if he gives the kids a run out or not?

Hoping for a good balance between experienced players lacking minutes and youngsters. Something like this: Hilario (Cech might need the game time); Ferreira, Luiz, Terry, Bertrand; Romeu, Ramires, McEachran; Kalou, Anelka, Lukaku.

DERBY DATE SET

Our Carling Cup third round tie at home to Fulham will take place on Wednesday September 21.

The Stamford Bridge fixture will kick off at 7.45pm, with extra-time and penalties to follow should the scores be level after 90 minutes. The game comes between our Premier League away date with Manchester United on September 18, and our home game with newcomers Swansea City on September 24.

We also can't underplay the significance of this game from their point of view. Playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will be like a cup final to them. They will take the Shed and attempt to turn it into a home game. This is one of few (only occasion) Fulham will ever take 6,000 to a ground and they will want to reward their fans by putting a strong team out. We got turned over by Newcastles 2nd team last year and my worry is that it could happen again. I don't mind if we mix things up in midfield and up front, but I would prefer to keep our backline and GK as strong as possible and our record of having never lost to Fulham at the Bridge in donkeys years (has never happened in my lifetime anyway)

Hold on a second, a cup final? Apart from the fact that Fulham go to Stamford Bridge every year - yes the allocation is large but how you can say that this will be anything like a cup final for their fans is just ridiculous.

It is a cup final to them in the same way it is a cup final to QPR. They are obsessed with Chelsea and win against us would mean more to them than anything else, particularly at the Bridge. There are many Fulham and QPR fans that would take a win at Stamford Bridge over a Win at Wembley in an FA Cup final or Premier League survival.

A result here would really help Jol win over the fans and give Fulham a realistic shot at a trophy, we have to be wary.

Let's go with...Hilario, Paulo, Luiz, Terry, Bertrand, Romeu, Meireles (if healthy), Josh, Kalou, Lukaku, Sturridge
