in 64/65 when they beat holders Leicester City in the two-legged final.  Any idea why Chelsea were not in the tournament the following season to defend it? 

The League Cup had only recently been established and wasn't that well thought of at the time (even moreso than now). Some clubs didn't even bother to enter it some years. We didn't on a few occasions. It was probably regarded as one competition too many what with the league, the FA Cup and the Fairs Cup to go for that season and in the days when a squad contained about 14 players.
