It didn't seem appropiate to post this in the 'state of the defence' thread, but it was something I wanted to bring up as prominently as possible.

 

Zouma seemed established (until Tomori's demotion) as our left centre back, and considering Silva's near decade-long career as a right-side centre back (often times beside/behind our alumnus Luiz), it seemed to make a lot of sense.

 

Why has that recently changed? Why is Zouma now our RCB and Silva the LCB?

I think it’s to save wear and tear on the pitch. It can’t be good for the grass having a massive lump like Zouma stomping around on it for 90 minutes.
