Hi Everyone,

First message, so thanks for having me.

Just joined the site, I live up in West Yorkshire between, Halifax and Huddersfield.  I have really joined up on behalf of my 9 year old son who is football mad and a diehard little blue.

I cant honestly say what happened other than a little over 2 years ago my wife and I woke up to find we had a Chelsea fan in the house who idolises Mason Mount and Kante.  Given where we live and only a few family ties to London, you might have expected that this would be a passing thing and like a lot of his friends would switch clubs every few months before settling on a local side.  We did.  Instead he has proudly worn his blue home kit to every single training session for his local team surrounded by teammates in Huddersfield, Leeds, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs kits, brushed off any stick.

So, I'm not sure how we got here but, given how important football is to my son and the commitment he has shown to Chelsea, it's time to embrace it.

My son turns 10 later this year and I am coming to realise what a minefield it is getting hold of tickets for big clubs when you don't have a connection to a season ticket holder etc.  Above all else I couldn't stomach disappointing him if I ended up taking him down to Stamford Bridge and finding out I'd bought dodgy tickets.   I would welcome any advice/ help on the best way to go about getting my son tickets for a home game between Sept and year end.  Looking at fixtures Wolves I would guess is the most likely.  I'm wondering how likely is it that if I signed us both up as members tickets will come up for that game and how quick do you have to be? If that match is on the 8th October when would they be open to buy for members?

Any help or advice will be appreciated and if it helps with the motivation, as it does mine, my father in law is a Spurs Fan 🙂

Thanks and sorry, didn't mean to make that quite so long.

Welcome and congratulations to your son for making the best decision of his life!

If you become members you can then purchase tickets through the clubs ticket exchange - this is basically season ticket holders selling their tickets through the club for games they can't make/ don't fancy.

Outside of that there a few groups on facebook, 'Chelsea Through and Through Ticket Exchange' is a really good one. I am in there and have bought tickets and have had no issue. Of course this is not a guaranteed way to get tickets but more often than not there are people selling 1 or 2 for a game.

Haha he would say the same.

Really appreciate, this thank you, so is the club tickets exchange a pretty 'safe' way to go? Obviously I don't want to pay stupid money for the tickets and if I can buy some at face value great but more than that I want the best guarantee that I get my lad into the game I said I will, so may horror stories of people getting done by dodgy sellers.  Is it an official part of the club ticketing?

Yes the club ticket exchange is run by the club. Here's the link with a bit more info:

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/ticket-exchange

Tickets on there are only ever sold at face value. It says on that link that tickets normally go on the exchange around 2 weeks before the date of the fixture. Again, I have purchased from there in the past and never had any issues. If it is the Wolves game you are trying for then you should be able to get tickets ok, the 'big' games tend to be a bit trickier but for Wolves it should be fine.

Thats a great help thanks, that's also exactly why I had my eye on the Wolves games, it's about the only home game between end of September and Boxing day that might have a bit lower demand.  Would we both need to sign up for membership or could one member buy both tickets?

I am not 100% sure on that as I have only ever purchased individuals, sorry!

Welcome @CalderChelseaDale Tickets this early in the season will be hard. Still some available for the Women against West Ham, you’ll probably see a much better quality of football with them at the moment!

Thanks for the message, I know it's not looking an easy one.  I'm sure the Chelsea Women v West Ham will be a great game but it falls a little too early in September.  Both of my kids loved watching the Lionesses play but my son doesn't follow the WSL and I know he really has his heart set on going to his first Chelsea men's game.

If we somehow manage to get past Man City and draw a ‘crap’ team in the league cup these can sometimes get to general sale and are cheaper than a league game. They’re alway midweek though so might not be any good (and we’re more than likely going to get spanked by Man City).

Same goes for early FA Cup rounds at the beginning of the year though.

Even a membership doesn’t guarantee tickets nowadays and you’d have to face the dreaded Virtual Waiting Room where many a person has perished waiting to get through.

Good luck anyway!
