Yes but boring regular ones, not the cute ones.

Cant afford "cute" ones....it says 0 in the budget box.

I'll save up for marvel/dc ones once I get some money.

Can't you sell someone or sack a groundsman?

I haven't got a clue, and you're a few steps ahead of me atm because I just realised I might have to watch or at least give a sh*t about other teams matches!

Lol

Oh I know f**k all about this fantasy league thing, I decided against joining because I didn't want to do a million things I don't even understand :laugh2: I have enough on my plate getting things wrong in Zeta's league!

I was just reading the rules and FAQ...its not difficult tbh it's just a lot of it. So much to remember and do, especially if taking it seriously. Its full on if doing it properly.

I won't be... 😁

@Niall1905 I guess we'll be bugging you bud. if you've got any literature for noobs mate, I'm your guy. Lol

No literature I’m afraid!

In answer to your question on transfers; Think of the original 100m as your total budget for the year, you’ve spent it all for now, but every week you get a transfer to use.

When doing the transfer, you sell a player and therefore have that money to spend again. On who is up to you.

Players values go up and down throughout the year, based on how many people are buying and selling them (a bit like stocks).

Sadly though, if you sell a player whose value has increased, you only get a percentage of that increase. But that’s probably for another day, for now it’s only really worth knowing that you can sell and buy and you see fit.

One last point, if you decide you don’t want to use a transfer for one week, it rolls over to the next. So you would then have 2 transfers for the following week. This can repeat up until 5 transfers.

Cheers bud. I need to read up on how the scoring works because I might have done a booboo with team selection. Can't change it now without transfers and losing points if I do too many (right?) And no point restarting unless gameweek 1 turns out really sh*te lol. Anyway that's the next bit I need to read up on...there's fk loads. I've skipped chips for now. Started getting a headache in that section. Lol

I'll be able to pay it if you buy a few more coats at the Megastore!

Once the third kit is out, I'll use the link.

Didn't you say it would be out by now?

Yeah that’s right, 4 point deduction for transfers outside your allotted!

you got the right attitude though, best way to learn is just give it a go and try things out! You’ll do much better than the likes of me overthinking everything!

Too late...I'm definitely overthinking everything already. I want to start again. Lol

Ugh, I should have read up about it a few days ago. Nvm...

Morning all...

How do I start again? New team and start in gameweek 2?

I looked it up and it says I have to delete my FPL account and register from scratch...does anyone know of a better way?

I'm really thinking about it but will wait till after gameweek 1 ends and see how bad my team is and get familiar on how fpl actually works first.

I couldn't sleep so I just read and read...forgot my headphones downstairs so couldn't watch any YouTube vids (have ppl forgotten how to write/type, everything is a bloody vids, gggrrrrr, lol)

Read a few good articles on why you should always start in gameweek 2 too.

On another note...I hate you @Mod. 🤣 🤣 🤣

And when picking your midfield and forwards, remember a midfielder scores 5 points for a goal, the forwards 4 points. So loading your midfield with DMs probably isn't a good idea.

I've selected a capt and vice too...

I have no clue what any of that means though...lol

Good...think I'm all set then. Now I need to remember to check this too.

If I forget then I'm just blaming @Mod

You've caught on quickly, bub.

I can't stop thinking of how much of a muppet I was for not reading how the scoring works first. Also im a bit of an idiot for selecting lucky dip or whatever its called and not putting more effort into team selection apart from a few players.

Bit embarrassing tbh. Lol

Just looked at your team. Nowt wrong with it at all, especially if you went with lucky dip. Lucky dip can turn up some absolute sh*tshows. It's well balanced - goal-scoring midfielders - with plenty of talent. The challenge in the game is to avoid knee-jerk reactions, trading out someone after one dud game. You get one free trade each round. If you're patient (with good reason), you accumulate free trades letting you make multiple free trades in a round if you feel the need. It's also a good idea to pay attention to which teams your players are facing in the following week or weeks. Top teams -v- bottom teams - eg, MC or Liverpool -v- say, Leicester - could suggest a tweak or two to maximise your chances.

Ah, cheers bud...i did swap a few annoying players i didn’t like too. But still managed 2 spuds...ugh, lol.

Yep, I added the players playing weaker teams. But I was thinking having a semi strong team vs one or two superstars might work out better but everybody has gone for haaland for example. I just thought 2 good players can score more points than 1 excellent player but after reading the scoring, I don't think that's the case. Also to buy him later on will be impossible if he does well.

I'd say you'll fit right in! Buy some lemons and hold on to your system (i.e. your first account/team for week 1) and tweak here and there. Your players will catch on eventually and meanwhile they're having fun on the pitch 😛

One of the great conundrums of the competition and what makes it an interesting philosophical exercise. On the whole I think your semi-strong theory is a good one. I tend to follow it. Putting all your eggs in a couple of very expensive baskets can be tempting ... but often a costly mistake. I went with Haaland this week only because of our fabled defence.

Unfortunately I didn't buy him and my understanding is his price might be too high to transfer in after a few decent games. I have no idea about how much they go up or down in price which is really what I'm waiting for after gameweek1. Then I can figure out if it's worth just starting again or not.

I like the semi strong theory too but I have this annoying feeling the only player you shouldn't miss on is haaland. Lol
