Ben Haim | Left back

Featured Replies

Bad news in one way (i.e. a centre half at left back) but good news in another in that it hopefully means Paulo is going to be restored to right back as otherwise Jose would just shove Paulo onto the left hand side.

is PF injured??

Paulo was hit in the face by a ball in training and has a bit of double vision - as reported on Chelsea TV by Neil Barnett, who is with the squad in LA. Mikel has a tight thigh muscle so wasn't risked against Club America. Paulo will probably be back, but sometimes these things can drag on.

As for Bridgey, really bad luck. The fact that it wasn't diagnosed at the end of the season is really annoying - would have been well on the way to recovery by now. As it stands they are saying 3 months - I'll hazard a guess that we won't see him again this year, what with the fact that a hip fracture basically incapacitates you and he cannot gain any fitness at all. He'll be so far behind it'll take at least 6 weeks to get up to speed. It's a real shame because I was thinking the other day that of all the players that we might cast as bit-part players, Bridgey is one of the guys who to my recollection has never let us down. Top drawer solid performances from day one, as far as I'm concerned.
