Portsmouth's plans for a new stadium by the sea have been sunk by the Royal Navy. The stadium, which would have jutted into the harbour, cuts into a naval exclusion zone. Pompey are now planning to build a new home on top of a rubbish tip near Port Solent.

thats a shame that, because it looked like it could be one of the truly outstanding looking sports stadiums in the world. Real shame.

yeah, but part of the reason it looked so good was that it was jutting out over the harbour, not sure it will look right just placed on a bit of land somewhere.

Obviously it's simply a matter of "transporting" the building itself. These objects are planed to "fit" and to "live" on the spot, but I deprehend that there wil be another decent place, probably one similar (near the harbour or the seashore ?).

I do hope they find somewhere else to build it, seems such a shame to not go through with such an original design.
