Posted January 1, 200817 yr Okay sounds a little odd to me as we are about to lose a bunch of players to the ACN, but on Talksport today they were talking rumours for the window, and a Bolton fan swore blind that this would happen! Is this likely? Is it only the injuries to our squad that would hold the deal up? Would it be considered a 'loss'?
January 1, 200817 yr the only way I could see this happening would be if we were to sign someone else in the Jan tran window....a midfielder that is. I can't see any point in selling sidwell (albeit I didn't see much point in signing him) to Bolton at this time of the season. The only way that this has come up, is probably due to the Anelka saga. He may be being offered as a way to soften the deal! If sidwell were to leave, we would be relying on Ballack and Lampard during the ACN, with Maka in behind them? OR two of those 3 with wingers in a 4-4-2 formation Scott
January 1, 200817 yr Author Agreed. I fear Bolton may be playing hard ball over the Anelka deal. Or of course it may be wishful thinking from a Bolton fan phoning a radio station... ;) But the more I think about it...it sees credible.
January 2, 200817 yr If that's the only way to get Anelka then give them Sidwell. We've got 400 midfielders already. And Sidwell just isn't Chelsea class. Much like Jokanovic was, he's a work horse. Nothing more. And if we have to send him off to make some new glue, then so be it!
January 2, 200817 yr I don't think Sidwell is quite good enough, but he was signed specificially for cover during the ACN, so I really can't see him leaving in January. I think he will be off at the end of the season though.
January 2, 200817 yr I don't think Sidwell is quite good enough, but he was signed specificially for cover during the ACN, so I really can't see him leaving in January - especially with Lamps injured. I think he will be off at the end of the season though.
January 3, 200817 yr they, Sunderland, have had a bid for H*nt turned down. So they have gone in for former Reading team-mate Sidwell? It could be true, as they seem to be looking for a midfielder. Again, I don't see us getting rid of Sidwell unless we sign in someone else. not until the end of the season anyway
January 3, 200817 yr Our Company Bankers are in Reading and one of the guys I deal with swears blind that Sidwell is going BACK to the MadStad as part exchange for Kevin Doyle !!!! WHY ???????????????????
January 3, 200817 yr Author I could see us using Sidwell in a swap, maybe even a sale...but why a loan? Makes no sense.
