John Terry: I want to stay at Chelsea for good

March 2, 2008

Chelsea skipper John Terry has some good news for his club’s supporters. The England international midfielder is quoted as saying that he wouldn’t leave Stamford Bridge anytime in his playing career.

Terry insists that any transfer speculation moving around him is a myth and that he wants to play for Chelsea until the end of his playing career. JT says:

I really can’t see myself leaving and I signed a new contract earlier in the season. I love the club, and I’m so passionate about Chelsea.

I just want Chelsea to succeed. I like to think I know what the fans go through on a weekly basis. I don’t just come in, train and go home and forget about things, I take it home with me.

I am fortunate to be in the position I am at an amazing club like Chelsea, and to enjoy the things that come with being a professional footballer.

I have been here on £45 per week and worked my way through to being where I am today. I appreciate everything and work hard every day.

So Terry is bent on staying as a one-club man and it is indeed heartening to see players like him remaining faithful to their club, although you need to admit that Terry is playing for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and thereby wouldn’t have much reason to leave his club.
