Anyone tell me how to get rid of Tojan.Pandex and Hacktool.Rootkit.

Basically it turns our PC into a proxy sever for spam everytime it is turned on. Norton doesnt touch it and actually says that everything is perfect!!!

Thanks

Rid norton as much as you can then install AVG Antivirus and also a program called CC Cleaner. Run both and rid everything with that reference.

For safety, totally back up now onto CD, etc everything you want to keep from the computer (photos, etc). Disconnect your modem beforehand.

Once installed and Norton gone, restart in safemode and run AVG and Ccleaner if it lets you (be careful what you delete manually on Ccleaner, make sure you rid the dodgy looking start-up programs)

Thanks for all you help Mod- Ill blitz it tomorrow

All sorted now - about 7 trojans + loads of other mal crap found - the pleasure of having a communal PC in the office!

Important point though - Norton (cost £50 pa) found none of this and says the system 'was secure' only to go on and send thousands of Spam emails

I will never use Norton again

Thanks for all your help Mod - really appreciated
