You guys must be laughing all the way to the bank with the Luiz money after that demolition job by Germany on Brazil. 1-7! And Luiz was lucky he wasn't sent off like 3 times per usual.

If I've wound you up it wasn't my intention. I just like to keep you guys updated about what we're up to since a few posters here seemed to appreciate it. As I said before, I've already said I think Chelsea will win the league next season and I've also listed where I think we're weak too, but since I'd already said that I moved on to current news which for us is Shaw and Herrera. I guess you just caught what I was saying at a bad time.

I actually said I think you guys will win the league.

I wouldn't be so sure. If you're interested in our finances then take a look at our new shirt sponsor deals; Madrid currently make the most money but that's because their shirt sponsor deal came in before ours. Once ours is renewed that will take us back to number 1 - these things work in cycles.

On a personal level I've never been one to give out to Chelsea fans RE money or for your changes in managers either.

Interestingly enough, Vidal is only on around £50,000 to £60,000 a week, so if we really did put in a bid in the region of £50M and we offered him £240,000 a week (the same deal Rooney is on), then do you guys think it would be so unrealistic then? Woodward is after a big marque signing after all and there's word going around that our sponsors want a big signing too. We've spent £57M of the reported £150M so far, so if we did spend £50M on Vidal that would still leave 40 odd million to buy a CB. It's also worth remembering that both Vidic and Rio demanded huge wages so with them off the books we have more room to give new players crazy salaries. Oh and before people start crying "Ruining football," our revenues last year were £300M + and will be over £400M this year, so this is actually our own money and is inline with FFP.

Sure all places have their bad areas (Manchester is no paradise), but like every single friend/family member that I know who has gone to Liverpool has had something stolen, in my brother's case it happened on two separate occasions and he wasn't exactly in the 'bad areas' either. As a family we're not exactly naive either; we've been abroad a lot and are well aware of pick pockets etc. Funnily enough it happened in a 'secure car park'.

Is he miles better than what we've currently got?

Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2013-14
Confirmed we've signed Luke Shaw. There are conflicting reports but the general consensus is that it's around £27-30M w/without add-ons. Rumours going around that we've preparing another bid for someone else as well.

To be honest I have no idea who else we're going to sign. We've gone from broadcasting to the world all our targets to being very hush hush since LVG came in. You can expect De Gea, Rafael, (Evra + Shaw), Herrera, Rooney, Mata and RVP to be certain starters though. As for the positions we need, I think we need 2 CBs (we could get away with 1), along with another CM and possibly a winger/wide player. How would you guys react if we got Pogba/Vidal? That £150M warchest was no joke and we've still £90M left to spend.

Maybe, maybe not; Evra is getting on and was one of the main reasons why we let in so many goals last season. Literally loads of them came from down our left flank because he doesn't have the pace to track back. Give him a rest though and it's like he's back to his best though so I could see Evra and Shaw sharing the spot over the season, that is if Shaw does sign which looks pretty much nailed on at this moment in time.

Right now it costs more money losing out on CL money. We've the money and need the players.

Our record at signing young English talents for large sums of money is pretty decent although admittedly players like Young, Smalling and Jones have yet to prove themselves. The following however have been well worth it. Wayne Rooney £25.6M - we've gotten 10 seasons out of him to date and we'll probably get at least another 3. Rio Ferdinand £30M - 12 seasons. Michael Carrick £18 - 8 seasons and counting. Interestingly enough, Rio's fee adjusted for inflation in today's money would be something close to £42M.

Sky are reporting that we've agreed a fee for Luke Shaw and that he's having a medical. Shaw and Herrera in the same day! That £150M warchest is looking ever more likely.

Carrick isn't the problem, it's everyone else around him, baring Scholes of course when he still played. Carrick was immense the season we last won the title but was pretty god awful last season, but then so were a lot of our players under Moyes. I think under LVG he can be rejuvenated, but still, he's not getting any younger and we really do need world class replacements. Ander Herrera isn't world class (he's still very, very good), but we're not going to get world class players whilst we don't have CL football. Thoroughly happy with the singing and LVG so far though.

Just been confirmed that he's signed for us. WE HAVE A MIDFIELDER! Bout time, it only took us 7 years......

Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2013-14
Liverpool are going about this completely the wrong way. It'd be like us buying a striker when we've already got Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney, especially since our midfield and to a lesser extent the defense need addressing. So yeah, I'm pretty happy with who they've signed - don't think it'll improve them much at all.

Just started a thread about it on Talking Reds, and thankfully it's all been respectful so far. Long may it continue.

Luke Shaw, Ashley Cole's Successor?
He's going to be a star and players can't deal with him. That's why he's been getting the sh*t kicked out of him all season. It's shocking how little protection he's gotten from the refs. It was only 2 weeks ago that Meyler tried to break his leg. How he never got a retrospective ban for that I'll never know. Fulham's Sascha Riether was at it earlier in the season too.

Luke Shaw, Ashley Cole's Successor?
He has 4 goals and 3 assists for his debut season and apart from that one spell where he seemed to play all the time he's hardly started for us.

Luke Shaw, Ashley Cole's Successor?
De Gea, Januzaj, Rooney, Mata and Robin Van Persie makes 5.
