Tactic vs Player
Tactic. Adjust to circumstances, opponent and trust the players especially when they are Real Madrid players. https://www.wsj.com/sports/soccer/real-madrid-champions-league-carlo-ancelotti-4aad1086?mod=hp_listb_pos1

Wesley Fofana at Chelsea *Official*
from what I read Fofana had his cruciate surgery in November 2023. According to a single article I read there are about 200,000 anterior cruciate ligament injuries a year of those about 55% return to competitive sport but generally it takes 9 months. So if Fofana is on an average recovery path it'll be August before he can get to training.

Tactic vs Player
Andr the more general point that management is about more than player ability, tactics, systems or even the inevitable individual errors "to err is human". it's about motivation, training, belief, support for each other, a shared common purpose and a belief it can be achieved. Tactics and systems are are only the means by which the war is carried on.

gusto (fof) Colwill cucu enzo caicedo Chukwumeka sterling jackson nkunku cucu helps enzo out defensively, Chukwumeka will have to work hard coming deep. James and Gusto share the job since neither stays fit for long. A new ball playing centre back is the highest priority in my mind ( a weird place to be sure) I am thinking Silva from Benfica might fit the bill.

Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*
As well as building a great team spirit Ancelotti's particular skill, it seems to me, is to find a system to fit the players rather than the other way round. And to put players where they will shine.

I just dont see Enzo as a 10 no matter how much cover he has. Rivaldo was a 10 shame we can't bring him in. I don't even see Enzo as an 8 in the mold of Lampard. that would be Chukky if ever fit. Surely Enzo is more like Pirlo?

Tactic vs Player
That's fair analysis except as far as it goes except that you have put Rudigier in both teams when in fact Zouma played under Lampard and the disharmony that caused was an issue I am guessing. However although the replacement of useless attackers who got in the way of the fullbacks with Jorgi and Azpi was partly what caused the improvement I think it was more than that. I thin Tuchel got those players to buy into the change, made them pay attention to detail and the tougher character of Jorge and Azpi compared to the guys they replaced also contributed. So in that moment you had change of formation, change of players, change in off field approach, change in on field will power. So it was leadership from Tuchel, knowing what to do, and getting the team to do it that made the difference. All the elements combined and can be summed up, in my view, as effective leadership. Like many a leader though the standards that Tuchel demanded could only be maintained for a while and dropped away quite quickly after the champions league possibly because the players in the end could only maintain that level for half a season, eg Azpi.

Next Manager (post Poch)
It has to be pointed out that we have ended up with Maresca. This basically proves that most of the punters and people on this forum including me know bugger all about what's going on and we should all be a bit less confident with our assertions, opinions etc. Looking at the bookies gave no useful information. zero. That's because the people placing the bets had no information and were just guessing based on the last newspaper or youtube report they read. When Gordon Bennett posted in this thread on May 22 so 1 week ago Maresca wasn't even on the list for whom odds were available. Axeman's conviction it was De Zerbi was utterly wrong. Looking at Coaches voice like I did and thinking it would be McKenna was utterly wrong. Whether Amorin or Hoeness were ever even approached is lost in the mist of time. Not one person on this forum that I am aware of mentioned Maresca as a likely choice 1 week ago. Happy to be corrected. I am not saying this to be negative about any person or prediction, but more about the general idea that any of us has a clue about how this club works or what it's doing. People, including me, often think we know what's what when we haven't a bloody clue.

Tactic vs Player
Going back to Alonso. He had I think about 8 of the same players as the previous manager but produced quite different result. If it's not about tactics how did he do it? This is what is missing in tactical analysis and also in saying it's just the quality of the players. In my view both are only part of the issue. The manager has to have a plan and the players have to buy into it and then execute it. What ever the role of tactics it was Alonso's success in getting the team to play and be world beaters, something they as a group or as individuals had never shown before. Explain that part of the job sensei Bob.

I will bet money there are lack of results outs in the agreement and its subject to reviews. As for boring football let's wait and see. Leicester scored the second most goals in the championship last season and conceded the fewest I think. Maybe I'm wrong. The average score was about 2:1. If its the same in the premiership ha ha I'll be happy enough.

I'd have preferred McKenna. Probably been wrong but i've always been one to back youth, and a guy thats studied for it all his life. Maresca gets negative comments on his style has already been sacked once, has only won with Leicester and many say because of their wages bill and hasn't even been managing all that long. Just doesn't come across as my cup of tea in the general reading but to be honest I have no f****** idea about him. Because there is an aussie playing at Ipswich and becoz McKenna has brought them up through two promotions in a row I did watch them a bit and I like the style. ah well.

And Romano jumps on the same bandwagon. Romano is relatively weak on this topic maybe because managers make more of their own decisions and rely less on agents. That is speculation on my part. It's unlikely that Chelsea management are leaking much about this. They might have some incentive to do so, to fly a kite and see the reaction, but basically the team managers being interviewed have much more incentive via intermediaries to leak to journos in the hope of creating positive support and boosting their case. My conclusion is that there were talks with Maresca over the weekend. "Enzo Maresca remains keen on Chelsea job as he’s given his availability after positive contacts over the weekend, still waiting for club’s final decision." Romano

That may be what he says on Twitter and I don't know what time Twitter shows but the latest newsletter I have from his site dated 6 hours (12:41 am London time) ago says no such thing.

Everyone knows what you get with Mourinho or Ancelotti or Guardiola. For the up and comers in England I've found Coach's voice to be quite interesting.

Next Manager (post Poch)
What is "TheCFCBlueNews" source for that info? I note it is not being reported by what I might call the more usual and in my opinion higher quality rumour sources like Ornstein or Romano. z If they offered Poch a 2 year contract and sacked him after one year, do you think it likely they would offer De Zerbi 3 + 1?
