Petr Cech to Arsenal
For f**ks sake.... Is this for real? I honestly don't know sometimes. You think you know what to expect from your club's supporters, then someone says something like this. It makes me think maybe I'm wrong. Maybe our support has changed so much in the last decade that maybe you're not some lone voice. Maybe I'm insulated from views like yours and similar ones in this thread. Maybe slagging the club and calling legends immoral for moving clubs is what supporting your club is all about nowadays. Maybe that's the price of success.

I apologise for my part, but you've got this guy who seems to constantly slate the club over their deals when he's got no connection to it. I put the guy on ignore and he still makes snidey comments with his mate towards me. I've tried to sort it out in PMs but the guy has issues. I should be there bigger man though.

Is that a yes or no Bobby? Come on, live a little.

I'm not happy. I'd prefer he didn't go there but he's earned the right to go there and based on what I've heard from people I trust we stuck to our word. But as is said, you guys are a tiny minority so arguing further isn't necessary. Loved seeing Pete over so many years. We're a great team and I can't wait for the season to start.

Oh come on. A bit of fun. Give you and Chelseabear a chance to put your money where your mouth is. Can be a donation to this site at the end of the season. If you're so certain he'll fail then where's the harm?

Hey Bobby, it's fine. I understand. It's not your fault.

Actually just realised that it's been the same 4 or 5 posters railing against this deal, slating the club, saying we should've sold him anywhere else or kept him to his contract, etc. The vast majority seem to be of the same mind that they don't want him to go there but understand why and are moving on, focusing on what WE can do to get better as a club. Really is rather silly to continue arguing as if they're representative of the support in any way, shape or form.

But he is Glaswegian...you really have an issue with adjectives don't you. But again, I understand that you might be stressed. It's not your fault. Anyway, fancy a little wager on Falcao? You and the Glaswegian can go halves.

The agreement was apparently to allow him to go wherever he chose if he gave us last season. Any club was a possibility so long as we got a fair price. That's what I've heard from people I trust. As for the type of fan I am, I'm the type who recognises that a players personal life will take precedence over what a tiny minority of fans might think. I won't say what type of fan I think you are.

But what is your criteria that determines whether he's sh*t or not? Seen you and your Glaswegian buddy constantly moaning without much actual reasoning. Either of you that confident of your prediction?
-
Radamel "the project" Falcao
That's not an answer. What exactly makes him a success or failure? Number of goals? Trophies won?

Sorry, but I think you've got the wrong end of that stick. Someone asked what type of fan I was so I responded. If that's an issue for you then I don't apologise. Sorry. You deal with your own insecurities ok.

From everything I've heard it's true. Your sources may disagree though.I'm not hiding. I've stated it explicitly a number of times. If you didn't pick up on that then that's a failing on your part and I've explained what type of fan I am. Do you need me to explain that further. Wouldn't want to upset tyke by going further. I think arsenal have got a good deal. I think they've benefited from I being in a bit of a corner but we've got a fantastic team and I'm confident we'll win the league again next year.

Don't be obtuse. The supposed gentlemans agreement has been discussed quite a bit but once more, just for you...apparently we said that if he gave us this season as back up we'd allow him to leave to join the club he wanted so long as we got market value. As for me being delighted, you seem to be ignoring the numerous instances of me saying I'm NOT pleased with it. I'm the type of Chelsea supporter who respects our legends, goes to matches and supports my team and doesn't call the club mugs and gets disappointed when they act with class. What type of fan are you? Apart from the one who looks forward to old players coming back and haunting us to prove you right. Funnily enough I remember another 'fan' on another forum saying he hoped Mata would destroy us when he returned with United. You just learn that some people get a bit overexcited in the heat of the moment and don't have that ability to view things in their entirety. This is all a result of us acquiring and developing the best young keeper in the world. That's a good thing.

Haven't read the whole post but we've kept to an agreement we made with a loyal servant last summer. That's the long and the short of it. We've treated a legend with class and some will agree with that, others won't. Some would've stuck him in the reserves, others would've sold him abroad. Me, I'm not happy arsenal are stronger but I don't see another outcome that didn't lead to us treating him in a manner I disagreed with. Ultimately we all decide what we are comfortable with based on our character and our morals.
-

Which club? How would that have affected this supposed gentleman's agreement or is that not something that bothers you? Maybe we didn't want Ox or Walcott? Maybe they valued them both higher than we were willing to go. People like you almost seem to be wishing that Cech costs us points. Why? To win an Internet argument? Great fans people like you are. Me, I'm hoping that this pushes us to improve even more so that we're that much better than we were last season. I'm not dreaming up scenarios where he is key to us losing points like or matches like you or Indigo. I'm also not hoping he gets injured. Ultimately it is what it is. It's a result of us acquiring and developing a massive talent in Courtois and treating Cech with respect. Amazing that fans like you completely overlook that.

Could have let him go for free next season. Cutting off our nose to spite our face is an even better bit of business. Unfortunately as soon as we made the expert bit of business of signing Courtois, something like this was a possibility. Cech served us well, spent a year on the bench without asking for a transfer and is now leaving. Those slating this business....hopefully we'll win the league and that might appease you.
-
Petr Cech to Arsenal
It's not very likely at all. As for wishing injury on someone like Cech, it shows a distinct lack of class.

Has that happened? I'm still backing my team to win the league and beat arsenal if we meet them in the cups

And if we win the league?

6th most expensive of all time and none in the top 10 is older than him. Great bit of business by the club to go from one world class keeper to another without skipping a beat. If anyone wants to criticise the club for this then can they point to another team who did that? Arsenal are stronger so now we need to focus on being even better. Winners do that. Losers don't.

But Petr did make mistakes in the 2013-14 season. He actually seemed to develop a real issue with crosses especially from set pieces. Many people commented on it at the time so if he does go to arsenal and we face him, I'd say we just pepper him with crosses and put him under pressure at every turn.

What's success and failure in regards to this signing?

Petr Cech to Arsenal
Cutting our throat? Sorry, but what exactly are you demanding that he do? I think his connection to this club is still strong, just like Franks. But he's still a competitive sportsman and going to Arsenal ticks all the boxes. We could hold him here for another year but then we're saying to him thanks for giving up one season whilst we blood your replacement, now we're going to make you waste another because a small minority of fans are afraid of competition. That's the ultimate point. If our competitions get better, then we have to get better. That's what sport is. You aren't entitled to titles just because you support Chelsea. It's going to be tough next season and maybe selling them Cech makes it a bit tougher but true champions overcome those challenges and that's what I think this team is.
