mad_mac
In wanting to keep his family in London, he's seemingly moving to Arsenal http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/05/chelsea-agree-to-let-petr-cech-complete-10m-arsenal-transfer-5232158/
the special one
Cech could be good for at least 10pts next season so would prefer the club to sell to Spurs (if genuinely wants a move)... could be the difference between us retaining our title or Arsenal winning it next season. General
Respect to Cech for his service & clean sheets But. Selling him to those C##ts is bad for the club as it will fix their last remaining weakness. Can't think of any other club rivalry that would do that What's next sterling to United
Blue Daze
Been said many times by many decent supporters but if he wants to stay in London for his family then he's more than earned that right. Not an ideal move but the club are treating a legend with respect.
big blue
really disappointed in this. It's not even as if they are being forced to pay a big fee. Small fee for a world class goalkeeper, and a player that will be a massive character and leader in that arsenal dressing room. We have laughed at arsenal's lack of know how in their recent title failures, but we are giving them the sort of player that will show some of the inexperienced players what it takes to win titles. Complete madness. Edited June 5, 2015 by big blue

Complete madness. Very good points, but it would seem as though the personal reasons have taken precedence over the footballing ones. Apparently Roman is allowing him to go to the club of his choosing as a reward for his more than a decade of service. I'll be honest, if the owner of this club is happy with this then I'm not going to begrudge one of the heroes of Munich (one of my greatest ever nights) from staying in the city he's lived in with his young family since their birth even if it means that he plays for a rival and I honestly wonder where some people get off slagging either of them or the club off. carrickblue
A bit like the Mata sale, Cech to Arsenal says something about the confidence of Chelsea under Abramovich and Mourinho. They don't really care if sell to likely rivals, they know they can continue to build something even better. If Petr Cech wants to go to Arsenal he'll have my good wishes, he's been a major part of our success over the last decade and a great ambassador for the club. Maybe he'll be able to teach Jack Wilshere a thing or two.
BromleyBlue
Letting him go is one thing, but for £10 million?! He's still one of the best goalkeepers in The World! That is an insult, please Chelsea, don't let him go for that.
JM7
Disappointing to see him go to Gooners. Players won't win them the league, it's the manager..and look who their manager is. He bottles it every time.

I just don't agree that as a 'reward', he can go to a rival for pitance. I'd rather loan him to Watford for a year and let him leave for free next summer, at least as a club we have then tried to protect our own interest. If he then ended up at rival, there's not much you can do. For me the clubs interest should come before the players, even one like cech who is the best keeper I've even seen in my lifetime, certainly only rivalled by Schmeichel and buffon. He will always be a hero, he will always be respected, but you can't find fault in people being unhappy to see us sell a club legend to a bitter rival, helping them significantly strengthen one of there biggest weaknesses. I'd rather loan him to Watford for a year and let him leave for free next summer, at least as a club we have then tried to protect our own interest. If he then ended up at rival, there's not much you can do. Is it a pittance though? It makes him probably the 6th or 7th most expensive keeper ever at the age of 33. I know some people have this opinion that keepers can go on to 40 but that's the exception rather than the rule at the top level. Watford is below his standard as well. It's one thing to say you respect a legend but to then say but we'd like you to go to this sh*tty little club who aren't in the Champions League and can't afford your wages...why even pretend like you're going to treat him fairly? Why have this edifice and then put conditions on it? For me the clubs interest should come before the players, even one like cech who is the best keeper I've even seen in my lifetime, certainly only rivalled by Schmeichel and buffon. And the club's interest last year was to move from Cech to Courtois. Is there a single thing Cech could've done more to ease that transition? Did he say a single notable word to the press? Was there a single dirty look in the direction of Courtois? When called upon was he anything less than exemplary? He will always be a hero, he will always be respected, but you can't find fault in people being unhappy to see us sell a club legend to a bitter rival, helping them significantly strengthen one of there biggest weaknesses. I don't like the move either but I love the man and to me it's more important to act with dignity in this instance. I'm not trying to have a pop because I generally agree with most of the things you post but I do feel strongly about this. Honestly, there's more to football than trophies sometimes. Football is about people, the blokes you watch the game with and the blokes who serve this club and I think sometimes you have to do what's best by your most loyal servants rather than simply look at them in terms of how many points they give their new team. And IF we don't win the league next season then that's OUR fault.

Agreed, if we are to sell him to the Gooners aswell I hope we make them wait until the windows about to close. Whilst I'll never hate Cech I will say if he goes there I hope he has a nightmare cause I hate that club so much and I don't want us to help rivals. Such a shame if it goes the way they are saying in the media, bad enough seeing Lampard in a City shirt but Cech in an Arsenal one is a truly horrible thought. Chelsea is bigger than any one player, that's how I see it.
