On a completely un-related note, what was with the 'Ten German Bombers' chant (especially with Ballack on their side) and the 'England' chants? Cringe. Especially the former, I was actually quite embarrassed to be sat in MHL with people singing that. Other than that the fans were awesome though, and in particular I loved the reception that Ballack, Torres and Leboeuf got!

Thanks guys, and yeah seeing everyone else being turned away was a nightmare, but the guy seemed almost relieved that unlike the others I asked him something he could actually deal with What I don't get is they kept shouting "no tickets available, do not queue here or ask for tickets" (and of course, almost every single bloody person in front of me was queuing for tickets!) and the attendance last night was only 33,000 or so? I know they needed to have a block free to separate the home & away fans but it shouldn't be that much I wouldn't have thought?

He was by far our best player last night at taking people on it seemed, maybe it was because we were sat that end so saw the second half better than the first, but damn some of his play was just awesome, took it around so many players with quick feet and decent pace

:D The guy was awesome! Just said no problem and maybe 10 seconds later we had new tickets, woo! The three people queueing before us were turned away though which made me think we were screwed. Sorry for posting here btw, we were on our way to the car then turned around hoping we could get in anyway without the tickets, but a couple of Chelsea fans said theyd done the same before and we'd have no chance! :o

Not sure if that was intentional, but I love it anyway :-) And great post, agree with all of that really. A great example is Rooney who went I think 8 months without a goal that wasn't a penalty, but his contribution to the team was still decent and his general work-rate and desire kept him in the team. Torres is offering so little right now it's hard to justify him a spot ahead of the likes of Drogba/Anelka, and even Lukaku/Kalou.

I want Torres to be a success at Chelsea more than anything right now, but sadly agree with what es said above. Yes, maybe our style doesn't entirely suit him, but in no way does that justify the performances we've seen from him so far. Anyone who saw the Sunderland game on the weekend will also note that even with an incredibly fast paced attack he still managed to completely ruin what was arguably our best chance of the game (yes, better than the goals even) when you had three Chelsea players bearing down on a single Sunderland defender, and he somehow managed to get his first touch so wrong the ball trickled over to the corner flag. (strangely, this counter attack was omitted from MOTD)

By the way, +1 to this, I've only been a Chelsea fan since 94 but even the days when we were merely average, we somehow always put up a great performance against United. I hope that can be the case this season too but I've watched them in every game so far and honestly it's frightening how well they're playing right now.

Such a tricky one, it's going to be interesting to see how we cope with their forwards fantastic movement and frightening pace - just hope we can!

Second to the three points, I really hope he scores. Giving Josh and Kalou a bit of game time would be nice too, depending on how the game goes. Also rumoured that Ballack is starting tonight - hope he gets a great reception, I'll be cheering when his name is read out over the tannoy anyway! MHL L95 - first time in MHL and can't wait!!

I love that people are still going on about how the problem is 100% with the team and not with Torres. More than anything I want him to return to the form we all know he's capable of, but the fact is that he just seems disinterested for the most part, lacking the change of pace he once had, the desire and determination he once had. Just watch Hernandez playing for United and compare that to Torres, it's depressing.

That's what I was thinking, he's either a non Chelsea fan, or just someone deliberately going out of their way to be disruptive. And it works!

It's quite embarrassing that we have two of the best forwards in the world with Drogba and Torres, yet so far this season (and for the majority of the last season) we look at the two Manchester Clubs with great envy. When Torres signed I genuinely thought we had the best strike force in the world right there, but so far I've been pretty disappointed, especially by Torres. Saying that, it is baffling that before the game Torres said about how much he's looking forward to playing with Sturridge and Mata, both players starting that game, and both being hauled off before Torres got his chance...

Yet he hasn't played a single game for Celtic reserves, let alone their first team. Sure, sure sure sure he's still very (very!) young, but Rooney was immense for Everton's first team at the same age, so why he's being hailed as the 'Scottish Rooney' and playing in a much worse league is a little confusing. Think it's just his agent bigging him up to much. Needless to say I'm still pretty excited about this signing and it does sound like he has huge potential, but I'm taking his agents quote (as always) with a huge pinch of salt.
