Hard one, Mata our most creative player, but Ivan takes it for me. Solid performance. After giving Torres loads of clog for not trying these few days, I thought he worked really hard & very unselfish at the end. Mikel was solid as well.

Mikel for me, controlled the midfield fantastically at times and certainly seems to have been released a bit to go forward when the chance arises. Mata again looked very exciting, Studge also looks great when running direct.

Ivanovich, Sturridge or Mikel.

Sturridge was our best player in the 1st 45 and though he was less influential in the time he was on the pitch for the 2nd half, he still looked the player most likely to score given a chance. Wouldn't have subbed him myself.

But I'll give it to Mikel. An excellent performance in front of the defence up against a team with lots of movement and a decent passing game.

Ivan, Mata & Mikel for me as well in that order with a special mention to Torres for two very unselfish assists . Ivan made some crucial interceptions for us when they were threatening.

torres for me 2 assists and nearly scored himself thought he played well tonight special mention for mata and sturridge how close was he to scoring again thought on the whole the team played well again tonight saw the good and the bad from luiz as well

Seem to be alone in this one, but I thought Meireles was absolutely superb in his hour. He gave away a couple of fouls in the first half, but his ball retention was fantastic, I don't think he misplaced a pass all game. Wonderful performance from him so he's my MOTM. Mata was excellent all game, as were Sturridge and Torres, despite his poor 15 minutes in the 2nd half, he did all he could to score in the first half and nothing fell for him, and you can't argue against two assists, especially the 2nd one where he could've quite easily gone for it himself, very unselfish from him.

Mata...

also thought Meireles looked sharp. I just don't see the Mikel votes... Gets caught on the ball almost letting them in for a score, was ponderous throughout and gets 10 votes for MOTM we really have lowered our expectations...

Things just will not go for Torres bless...

Some people really seem to struggle to give Mikel any credit at times. He wasnt ponderous at all, He had a very good game and controlled the midfield extremely well.

Went for Torres too, hopefully tonights game lifts his chin a couple of degrees!

Opted for Mikel, but of all the players at the pitch their goalie, Leno, impressed me the most. Excellent saves and couldn't do anything about either goal.

Of their players I was more impressed by the left winger, Shurle or something. Looked a very impressive young player.

Juan Mata, what a player..

Torres with 2 assists close and Mikel had a great game even though he did worry me at times.

Torres, two touches of class that won us 3 points, if only the service he gets was as good as he gave tonight.

Honourable mentions for Sturridge who did everything but score, Mata and Moreiles for continuing to impress in a new team, Mikel after Lampard came on, looked more assured with Frank in front of him and Luiz because everyone loves a loon.

Not a bad nights work, 3 points and a clean sheet without playing particularly well at time, looking good for a work in progress.

thought mikel and mata were both good.

great to have mata about. that appreciation of space and intelligence has been needed since eidur left.

mikel was really heartening. tidy passing and good touch sure, but we shouldn't doubt that by now. dealing with smart players between the lines has been where he has come unstuck before, so today's effort was really good to see.

A huge plus for Torres, mata ivan and studge, but Mikel for me is very skilful at retaining the ball can pass and my god he is a beast of a player, you would know you had played against him.

Mikel was solid as a rock and he was certainly more progressive than usual. When we were under the pump a little bit before the subs, he was one of few who maintained their composure.

Mata and Torres (his best performance in a Chelsea shirt for mine) were also excellent. But they tended to drift out of it at times when we were letting Leverkusen into it from about 25-65 minutes. Mikel was more constant. I'd also like to mention Ivanovic who took on the JT role well, particularly given he all too often had to cover the woeful Bosingwa as well.

This is the toughest choice yet this season. Mikel, Miereles, Mata, Torres and Studge were the best out fir me tonight, although I find it hard to fault any of them, Luiz took his goal brilliantly and Brani was as solid as ever. Adding to that a good stop from Cech to deny Ballack. Bossy and Ash both got forward well but neither really had their crossing boots on. Malouda improved as the game went on but looked lost early on.

Ok I'm going to give this one to Mata. The guy is something special and although it's way to early in his Chelsea career to call him a legend, he is certainly going the right way about it.

I went Mata, but that was more because I had such a horrible time trying to wrangle a stream that I never got to see a lot of continuous action, so Mata's moments of brilliance shone more than Mikel's performance.
