The thing is, what he was doing when he played (mostly keeping it safe, playing it simple), that could easily have been done by Chalobah or Loftus-Cheek.
I know Chalobah wanted more playing time, that's why we sold him but he's not far behind Drinkwater despite being much younger... Why not just put faith in the lad and tell him he'll be given more chances. Tell Conte that the money saved from not releasing Chalobah means there's another £30m to strengthen elsewhere in the team (wingback, striker).

Lemar and Malcolm are players with excellent dribbling, distribution, and creativity. But they lack what Chelsea need the most...putting the damn ball into the back of the net. I would really like to see us going in for offensive players with more of a goal threat and leaving the creativity to Hazard. IMO Martial and Bailey would be ideal...but its not really something that we can expect from a club who isn't willing to spend 6-7M for a manager during the most important summer of this decade.
BTW Lemar has a defensive work rate better than most offensive players in Europe (think Sarri Pressing Style) and his strength is quite surprising given his short stature. Depay does have the better stats...but Lemar has special qualities other than his Distribution and Creativity that may be attracting Chelsea.

No point trying to get a new manager in if the board are still going to f**k around and not get the players the manager asks for.
Conte isn't a bad manager, but there was only so much he could do with our terrible squad

But he is still our best player and if we get Sarri or Jardim there is no way we should let him go. If Conte stays or if the club doesn't make at least 1 ambitious signing...then we start to think about selling hazard. Ideally I think we should not go for anything less that what Barca payed for Coutinho, in fact it should be a bit more than that as we can exploit Madrid's desperation. All in all I would never want to see him go.... but if the scenario arises then we better be able to buy at least 2 up and coming world class players (Martial;Zaha;Bailey;Asensio;etc) with Hazards fee.

Hello Blue Lions... great website; been looking to join an active community like this for years and now I'm finally here.
    Little bit about me:
Chelsea fan since: 2008 (yea i know I'm a real newbie, but I'm also American...that speaks for itself for why it took the Football Gods so long to convert me)
Favourite Player All time/Current: Drogba/ Azpi (Everyone loves Hazard but I'm all about the fighting spirit of the game...no one has it more than Azpi)
First Chelsea Match: 2008 Champions league semi final 2nd leg vs Tom Henning Ovrebo (yea...i know)
Favourite Chelsea Moment: Torres goal vs Barcelona
    Most Hated Team: Manchester United
Most Hated Chelsea personnel: MARINA (my hatred for this women tripled in the last 2 years)
My outlook for our Club: Our time of glory through financial support is going to come to an end...at least until our Stadium is built. This will force the club to reconsider and mould a much overdue new strategy for the future success. I believe this strategy hangs upon 3 key points:
    1. Hiring a manager (whoever it may be) that plays the type of football we envision our club to be playing 5-10 years from now and actually giving him some time to make an comprehensive impact on all levels of football from the Academy to the first team.
    2. Utilizing our Academy properly. I know there are some people that think 17 or 18 year olds can play in our first team, but the chances of them actually finding success and confidence is very low. I like our current policy of loaning our best prospects for 1-2 years for 1st team play time. Where i disagree with Chelsea is not actually using them even though they shine for their Loan Clubs. Recently this has changed especially with Christensen and Moses and I hope in 18-19 we will see more the same with RLC and Zouma.
    3. Buying one 80 million player then two 40 million players. (self explanatory and I'm sure all of you feel the same) How do we do this you ask: 2 ways to go about it- we could stink bomb Marina's car for the next 2 years (or) we could hire a Technical Director Of Football that actually interacts with our Manager more than he does with Abramovich. MY PICK: Luis Campos
Thank you guys and hope to have some solid discussions and share some memorable moments for then next coming years.
And remember: BLUE IS THE COLOR (always has and will be)
