March 15, 20188 yr I’ve got this feeling we really need a decent clearout, with a fair few deadwood players in the squad. Who do you want to be sold? Personally, Zappacosta/Moses - One of them has to be replaced by a high quality wing back, I have a soft spot for Moses but i can’t see Zappacosta being sold after one season. Cahill - Sadly he became a liability, I think his time is up. What a career he’s had here though. Luiz - With Christensen replacing him, and not getting any younger, I think it’s a good time we started looking for a decent back up to Christensen. Fabregas - On one condition, we find a younger player who can pass just as well as Fabregas. His passing is such an important weapon to have and without it we’d lose a plan b.

March 16, 20188 yr Still a bit early for this - a lot depends on our coach next season but my definite outs would be: Moses Pedro Zappacosta Fabregas Big question marks over: Courtois (sell for a BIG fee) Morata Drinkwater Bakayoko Barkley And we only need one of Cahill and Zouma so one of them too. I would look to keep Zappacosta as cover, Baka let the next manager decide and also keep Drinkwater as cover too. Otherwise agree.
March 16, 20188 yr Hard to say really, it depends who the manager is and what his plans are. I'm also concerned about the type of players we';ve been signing (avgerage and/or injured) and fear we may be in for a spell as the new Arsenal, just trying to finish top 4, which is going to be very hard as City, Utd, Spurs and Liverpool are all strengthening each window. However, if I had my way, I would get rid of: - Either Luiz/Cahill (probably Luiz) - Moses - Barkley - Pedro - Drinkwater I'd bring back Zouma. Bring back Loftus-Cheek. Sign a decent winger to compete with Hazard and Willian (maybe that Bailey bloke) Sign a top quality CM and relegate Bakayoko and Fabregas to backups Possibly bring back Batshayui, but it depends if the manager we have next season can use him or not
March 16, 20188 yr Forgot about Luiz. I like him and keep saying I would play him in midfield alongside Kante, but age and injuries are going against him so perhaps it is time to pert with him.
March 16, 20188 yr A lot depends on the coach and formation. The ones i'm certain can/will leave are: - Pedro - Luiz - Moses/Zappacosta I want to see us bring Batshuayi back and try him under a manager that can get the best from him. Bloke is clearly a goal machine.

I personally thing Fab, Luiz, Batshuayi, Pedro should all be sold. One of Barkley, DDW, or Bakayoko should also probably go. Batshuayi simply because he's playing out of his mind and could get a huge deal for him. I like the thought of going to a back 4 and going 4-3-3. I'd like to bring in savic from Lazio Veratti from PSG. In attack we would need to really reinforce. Bailey is a decent shout, but if we really want to make a splash I'd still be open to Gareth Bale returning to Prem. Hopefully we would also recall Zouma and RLC for depth... These are pipe dreams, considering we most likely won't have CL footie next year.
March 16, 20188 yr out: pedro courtois drinkwater cahill luiz zappacosta in: asensio (for courtious and cash) veratti zouma de vrij isco samassekou on loan: batshuayi barkley I know its very unrealistic but I think taht would give us the restart which we desperately need.

My word Nibs. Barkley has played twice! Can't be ruling him out on that! Personally I think we'll see some of the older players on larger wages moved on. That always depends on who the manager is and if someone else will take them. Cesc is on 200k a week. He would be hard to move. Luiz and Pedro similar. But I think those three are probably the most likely (Luiz definitely needs to go. His carry on against Antonio shouldn't be rewarded). As for others. I can't see any of this years signings moving. They will have lost value and we will want to claim that back. Massive lessons about not buying crocked players. Bakayoko, Drinkwater and Barkley were all bought while injured and none of them have adjusted. Cahill remains a question mark. I like him and he has been a great servant. Depends on who else can be bought in.

I'd say Albiol just to give Christensen some competition, I don't think Ampadu is yet ready and if Luiz leaves I think we could do with some experience at the back next season. Albiol can play in the middle of a back 3, or RCB in a back 4 whereas Christensen is untested in a back 4, and Conte doesn't seem to rate Zouma in a back 3. If Albiol's stats are anything to go by he's still playing at a consistently high level, and given the expectation for Christensen I wouldn't say we need to spend big on a replacement for Luiz - Albiol would be unlikely to cost more than £15 mill, if anything if Napoli want Luiz? March 20, 20188 yr Why are people mentioning Verratti as a realistic option? He's one of the best midfielders in the world and plays for the world's richest club. The chances of us getting him are zero. Unless it's a fantasy thing. There are two areas we need serious upgrade, imo. First, central midfield. Kante desperately needs another top class performer next to him.I don't care if we have to spend most of our transfer budget on it, we need it. Second, right back position. Nether Moses, nor Zappacosta are goo enough. I'd replace both, but I doubt it's finacially viable. Still, we need quality player on the right. Alonso has turned out to be a shrewd buy and I have a good feeling about Emerson, but the opposing flank needs to do a whole lot better. Whether we need another starting striker I don't know. At the start of the season Morata looked the dog's bollocks but then it all went to hell. I still feel he has everything to become world class but his mentality needs to change, it's a tough ask and I don't know if he is capable of it.

So much depends on the new manager if he goes back to a flat four as many of us would prefer then I would see Azpi going to RB. I would expect that to give us an extra body in midfield so potentially 2 new roles one to support Kante and another as an attacking / creative player and I would like Marco Van Ginkel to at least be considered. I wonder if Musonda could work with Kante as both are high energy players? Morata's wife became pregnant and a close friend of his died so think the time between now and end of season will be important to see if we should keep him assuming he wants to stay. For me, I'm thinking the new manager should be asked to bring forward some of this younger talent like Hudson-Odoi. It might be we do not require many additions if some of these younger players can be incorporated.
March 20, 20188 yr Looking at this, a lot of people pushing for Fabregas to be moved on. In my opinion I think we should keep him but certainly in a reduced role. Almost similar to last season where he predominantly came off the bench. Also we need to remember he qualifies as a homegrown player which plays a part in squad requirements these days. With no sell on value at his age I certainly see a useful role from the bench or in games where the opposition dig a trench on their 18 yard box.
March 21, 20188 yr Out - Pedro, cesc, Luiz In - CHO, RLC, Zouma Obviously this is if we dont get CL football. Incase of Europa, it would be the perfect oppurtunity to give chance to players like Empadu, RLC, CHO to be given an oppurtunity. If we get CL football, then I would replace cesc with someone like verrati (not realistic, i know) and pedro with isco/asensio. Move on with Tibo if thats what it takes to get one of those and buy someone like Butland. Edited March 21, 20188 yr by didierforever
March 21, 20188 yr OUT: Cahill, Pedro, Bakayoko, one of Moses/Zappacosta, IN: Alderweireld (Spurs), Bailey (Bayer), Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio), Fabinho (Monaco), Felipe Anderson (Lazio), Golovin (CSKA). Ideally, it would be Isco for Fabregas, Savic for Bakayoko, Alderweireld for Cahill, Bailey for Pedro, Anderson for Moses (or Zappa).

That is a good 350-400m you're spending there!

Plus, we may get a nice chunk of change for Batshuayi, Zouma, Van Ginkel and a few others which may offset some of the expences. Offloading Pedro, Cahill etc may free up some money on the wage bill, too. It's still a lot of money, but we've been living quite modestly in terms of net spend for years now and just recently signed a new major sponsor. If we don't change our approach, we're bound to turn into a pre-Klopp Liverpool or current version of Arsenal. Edited March 21, 20188 yr by abramovich
