If you truly believe Havertz is a once in a decade player, then you go for him every single time and figure out the rest later, especially given how relatively easy this is right now. We literally have no other clubs competing with us for his services. This is unheard of if he is as good as some are saying. in addition, they are still planning to address the defense with or without Havertz, these two items are not mutually exclusive. We have been rumored with every keeper that has ever played the game at this point, and have discussed several LB’s or CB’s that the club is looking into. Everyone wants a stud for the back line, unfortunately there aren’t a lot floating out here right now.

The writing has been on the wall for a bit now unfortunately. Best we can hope for is new ownership that wants to win and is willing to invest.

There is still a lot of questions to be answered before we start counting titles though. Will take a year or so for them to blend and learn to play together, no doubt injuries will occur in that span too. No doubt we will also address defense, but will that also take some time? also, odds would tell you at least one of these guys won’t pan out or live up to potential, if we landed 4 rock solid stars and all pan out that crazy. right now there are just too many unknowns, however one thing I think we can all say is, we are headed in the right direction.

This is spot on, we have a one point advantage over Leicester, so we just need to match them with one of our two games left. Not that it helps, because you won’t know the result of their final game until your game is about to go final, but if you knew 100% that Leicester would lose, we would be in. If they draw, we need one more, and if they win against Man U then we need 3, it’s that simple.

That’s not likely... the likely outcome of that match is United getting 3. Selfishly I want to get both the FA Cup and top 4, so I would play the odds. Based off today’s lineup Frank agrees with rest though.

That’s why I said let’s go for it today and rest at Anfield. I don’t know that we will beat Liverpool on their trophy day, so best you can hope for is a draw, which really means little at this point, because we would still need to beat Wolves on the final day most likely. All a draw in Anfield would do is make it so Leicester has to win, and not draw on the final day.

This is a huge result for our CL chances. Hell we have enough points right now if Man U beats Leicester on the final day. I say go for the FA Cup today now, rest at Anfield, and then next Sunday go all in.

Can I be the first to say, it feels very uncomfortable watching this Leicester/Tottenham game and rooting for Tottenham... I feel dirty. Up 1-nil though, so good start!

Yes, but he could pull guys like Pulisic early if he knows he needs him ready for PL games next week instead of playing a full 90, maybe 45?

I wonder how much the Leicester game impacts how Frank will use players today. If Leicester wins does he go more conservative and rest guys knowing we have 3 games in 8 days and we need points, if they lose is he more willing to go all in on the FA Cup knowing that he could maybe rest guys for Liverpool?

If we are the only team that can afford to sign him or is interested, no way they get their full asking price. I could see this taking a little longer due to that, without other bids to compare to hard to know true market value. also from what I’ve read, Chelsea hasn’t even begun formal conversations with Leverkusen yet, id imagine things will heat up after the PL season.

What’s most important is that Leicester or Man U loses next week. If either of them drop their next game we will have a +1 advantage on them going into the final match, at that point you beat Wolves and you are guaranteed in. Obviously we would love to get points at Anfield, and if you get 3 that ends it if Man U or Leicester lose, however I think we would all consider us lucky to even get 1. its also still not out of the realm of possibilities that Leicester drops their next two and we already have enough points, however I don’t think anyone feels comfortable with that idea.

This, or we need to get points at Liverpool. If we get 1 from Liverpool and they both win we would be down 1 point to both, and then a win vs Wolves would guarantee us a top 4 spot because we would end up at 67 points and they can’t both get to 67... that’s a rough road for us though, points against Liverpool will be tough, and beating Wolves is far from a guarantee.
