  1. how can you sack an amazing proven coach like Tuchel (avg 2,1 points per game at Chelsea, 2,3p at PSG, 2,1 at Dortmund, back to back CL final with two different teams) for a mediocre core coach like Potter (1,5 points per game at Chelsea and never ever reached >1,7 p avg in his career) is beyond me. The Americans do not understand in football it is all about the right coach and strategy and not about buying some fancy expensive talents. They should sell the club to somebody who knows what they are doing.
  2. no Tuchel has, now Chelsea is just a mid table team just like when Tuchel took over from Lampard
  3. I explained why in my opinion the last 8 months weren't top 4 level but it doesn't mean it's on TT. No chill well no James, Covid and being pretty safe after on 34. match day at top 4. If Tottenham and Arsenal would have been better last season, I'm sure that Chelsea would have more points as well because the mentality is just different when you are seriously challenged. It just proves that TT was a f**king good coach as with all the sh*t going on last season, he managed to have Top 4 nearly secured on 34. match day. you don't know the reason? it's pretty clear, had to rebuild f**king whole defense?? chillwell not 100% at all yet. No Kova, no kante for most games, Transfers coming very late. Many players not sure if the stay or not. Seriously is not always so easy to perform top level.. It's not on the manager but on the players, you need to focus 100% to win but if your brain says it basically just for fun now and other teams fight to stay in the league or to make it top 4 it's just psychological a different thing. or is Pep sh*t because he lost 3 out 7 then? or Pep at Bayern when he lost a lot of games after being 20p away. Can't motivate them can he? Every good coach has a period of time when the team is not performing and most of the time there are many reasons for it. Look at Arteta, needed just time to built a nice squad, and sort out the players, Pep same, Klopp has a lot of injuries right now..but a good coaches they turn it around and seriously TT just did not get a chance when he deserved the chance.
  4. So what? PL is not just 7/8 months. The reasons were no Chilwell, no James for the majority of that period? See how Potter does when James is missing? And btw poor form? Actually the only poor form was after those two were injured in December when there were so many covid cases and everyone got their games postponed except Chelsea. And at the end of the season with 5 points of 4 games. But! Last season we were constantly top 4 and had 7 points to Tottenham and 1 game less on match day 34! 7 out of 9 games were won from match day 26th to 34th. 3 games with 6:0, 3:0, 4:0. There was no chance to reach Liverpool and City and that's how it's been for the last part of the season and top 4 seemed super safe at that time. This explains for me why the form was not amazing in the last part of the season. I've seen it a hundred times with teams in the league when the there is nothing to play for anymore. When city was way ahead they lost 3 of the last 8. When Bayern is miles away in the Bundesliga they suddenly start loosing a lot of matches, PSG same. Looking back at the stats again. Still the dumbest decision to sack Tuchel. Yes the football was not the most entertaining in many games in his last half year but chilly and James were key for his games. This season he would have done great after the transfers had settled in. Potter will be ok but he is not good enough and he will not win any major trophies.
  5. no, he's been really poor the last games. Only against atletico and freiburg he was decent. He is way too overhyped imho. But Leverkusen have been poor this season and might get a new coach very soon, so maybe that will help.
  6. Bullsh*t. His style of football has been attractive apart for the last 20 games or so. Even in this row of games there were very attractive matches against Tottenham and Liverpool in the FA CUP Final. It's not easy to play amazing football if they park the bus and you don't have any good attacking players that create space. Also he showed attractive attacking football at PSG and BVB. And what dodgy league record are you talking about? With the squad he had, he achieved the maximum 3rd place. Is it luck to make 2 CL finals, 2 FA CUP Finals, 1 League Cup Final in just 2 years? Every top 5 club will consider him when they sack their manager. Apparently Boehly came in and showed Tuchel how Chelsea is supposed to play 4-3-3 in the future. Tuchel wanted De Ligt, De Jong, Kimpembe (Source: The athletic). Did not get any of these players. Boehly just wanted to focus on data for transfers while for Tuchel it's important to talk to the players and look at their character as well. Boehly wanted Ronaldo, TT didn't. This sacking was planned for weeks. Boehly just wanted a yes man and that's what he's got now.
  7. What can they say without pissing of the new owner and being transferred next window. I'm pretty sure the main team was behind Tuchel except for the forwards (what a coincidence that Zyiech, Pulisic, Harvertz, haven't posted any goodbyes). They all think they are better than they are. It's not on Tuchel even in the best of times they missed so much chances. And none of them proofed to be an elite premier league player. I don't think Potter will suddenly make them world class players. They are just not good enough. Same with Werner. They are not bad players but nothing for the Top 4 and ball-possession football. They need space to shine.
  8. probably conference cup next season with potter..He's not proven at all and the season already started. Good luck to him. I will give him until the World Cup. Then a new "long-term" coach comes in.
  9. does not make sense to compare. While for Lampard is was the middle of the season and he did not deliver at all. With Tuchel the spirit was clearly broken a bit after the Madrid game last season. Also Chelsea was comfortable on the third Place on the Matchday 32. with 8 points to Arsenal and way better goal difference. So the players were just not so focused as everything seemed already decided which was due to a very good season at this point thanks to Tuchel. It's not really fair as a lot of players wanted to go due to lack of game time or because they thought they were better (even though they are just average players) . Which Tuchel mentioned a couple times in press conference. If 5-8 players want to go, it is not a nice atmosphere and it is much harder to deliver. Should have sorted the players out in the beginning of the transfer market and get a team together as early as possible instead the new transfers were mostly last minute and had no preseason with the team. How can you work on things if you have seriously no time? This is not football manager, you can not buy players from all over for big money and they will perform in the first games on their best level. How can you sack a manager that made comfortable Top 4 last season, came from 10th place to 4th, won the CL, Made it to 2 FA Cup final , 1 League Cup in just 1 1/2 years ?and not give him a little bit of time, let him clear the deadwood and let him work with the new signings. For me this was decided quite early but Boehly did not want to sack him right away because of the popularity he had with fans. So he waited for the first sligh slip in form. For me, it is a pure ego thing to show who's boss as he wants to get all the credit for the future "success".
  10. this year is probably one of the toughest premier league seasons ever. Making top 4 is super hard this with Arsenal and Spurs being in form. Sacking Tuchel for a nobody like Potter is a joke. TT always delivered in the end. At Dortmund the situation was a similar in year two as the squad lost the most important players (Gündogan, Hummels, Mkyhitarian) and they struggled that season especially in the beginning but he still made Top 4 and won the cup in the end. Well, for me this seems like Boehly and TT just did not like each other from the beginning and the first chance to sack him was used. Especially if it was already decided before the Zagreb game. I'm sure the main players were behind the coach. But Zyiech, Pulisic and maybe CHO made trouble but they all should have been gone before the season began. They are maybe good enough for a mid table PL squad at best. I don't know if I ever witnessed a worse sacking. Just make a clear cut in the beginning but this is just non sense. Even ManU seems more professional compared to this disaster.
  11. you realize that these games were under Tuchel and showed how good the team can actually play do you? He always looked good against the Top teams because there is more space and therefore the players can shine because they are all players that need the space. When Tuchel came here, the other teams started to just park the bus because otherwise a loss was nearly certain. The only problem is against a side that sids so deep its very hard to create if you don't have the right players that can win the one and ones. I know Pep or Klopp have them, I don't see them here at Chelsea tbh. So its down to the players and not on Tuchel. It is a shame really, this was a good match. Sadly Boehly seems not to be a smart men.
  12. I guess Pulisic is the adviser of Boehly..🤡
  13. you will see, prepare to be a team that struggle to make top 4 in the next couple seasons. And if Boehly continues to make such stupid decisions Chelsea will be the new ManU. It is no wonder that the teams that dominate PL are long term projects and the coaches can built their team. That is why they are that good. But Chelsea give the coach six games after a lot of last minute transfers, injuries and a whole new defense. just stupid.
  14. probably something happened with Boehly and Tuchel..it does not make sense at all.
  15. dummest f*ckin decision ever...he's a top 3 coach. There won't be a better one out there right now. Boehly will regret this.
  16. it is just about winning games right now to close the gap..not about playing superb football. Most of the transfers were quite late, the team has not yet found together given the short time many players are in the squad. Players like Pulisic or Zyiech are just not good enough for a good premier league side tbh. You see the difference with sterling. It is not on Tuchel that the offense is poor. He proved anywhere that he can be a very offensive coach. At the moment it is about finding together with a lot of injuries in midfield and new players coming in. I'm 100 % sure that in a month the football we play will be a lot better and we will make top 4 quite comfortably. Next year I see us challenging for the title with 2-3 new quality players.. if we keep Tuchel and let him form his team. People here also have to realize that ball possession football might not be the most attractive football. Also city games are often boring and only won by pure individual goals. The difference is he has the players in the attack that are just two levels above our players.
  17. pretty sure, Lukaku wasn't a Tuchel transfer. if he really was his player, he would have let him play as many minutes as possible, instead he dropped him quite fast out of the first eleven and reading in-between the lines and his comments on Lukaku, it seems like he wasn't his biggest fan from the beginning. Also he mentioned in one of his last interviews that now he is way more involved in transfers than last season. Maybe he said yes to Lukaku because there was not other top striker available but that's it. To be honest, there is too much discussion about Tuchel right now. He's at Chelsea for 1 1/2 years now and done fantastic. Yes, there were some games that were dull but the finals last season and against Madrid wasn't attacking football or what? Very unlucky that there was not at least another title.. The offensive is just not able to score enough out of the chances they get and that's down to the players. Give him the players he want, I'm sure he will a lot more titles with Chelsea. Pep and Klopp had a lot more time to built there squad and its essential to have players that fit your system and your way of playing.
  18. it's quite clear that without any good wingbacks, its really hard in modern day football. They have become very very important for the offensive game. Especially with the 3 at the back formation they are essential for the offense. The only top wingbacks are James and Chillwell when they are in form. So no wonder it hasn't been going smooth. Before the injury crisis there was mostly great football.. The thing is expectations are very high now, compared to when Tuchel came here. He has achieved much more than anyone expected and still keeps going. But, in my opinion the squad is not really title material. Its an expensive squad but most of the players just look good because Tuchel found the right system to be defensively strong. There are hardly any word class players in the squad. Maybe Kante, TS, Rüdiger and Jorginho when in form. I don't see anyone of the offensive players near world class. Most of them are decent, but IMO overpriced and not consistent. They shine from time to time but to be honest: Pulisic is still the same as in Dortmund. Werner was never the killer in front of goal at Leipzig, the opposite. Harvertz has a really good technique but that's more or less it. Lukaku is just a slow Nr.9 with a bad first touch who needs a lot of space. Tuchel has become a little bit more pragmatic in his coaching. When he was younger it was always normal to switch the a lot of players, and formation, substitute in halftime 3. players because he did not like what he saw. That changed a bit, I liked the dynamic way of early days a bit more, but it seems to workout still alright. What he achieved in one year in phenomenal, let him build a team and I think it is gonna be another level. Pep and Klopp had a long Its hard to tell what transfers where Tuchels in the past as at PSG, where he did not seem happy with Leonardo which was all about transfers, so I guess he did not have much to say. He did not have a lot of money to spent either at the time. Transfers that were definitely his were Kehrer, Bernat, Choupo-Moting, Diaollo, Gueye. Bernat, Choupo, Gueye were really good transfers for the squad for little money while Kehrer and Diallo are these kind of flexible CB he was looking for but maybe not the best transfers but cleary fit the profile he liked for a 3 at the back. Icardi was clearly Leonardos transfer as I think nearly all other transfers during the time at PSG. I can't really see Tuchel wanting Lukaku. Yes, he wanted a top striker but I don't think he was his first choice. Just by looking at the highlights of Lukaku, one can see he shines when he has a lot of space. In this possession football right now there is no space because the built up is quite slow and the opponent is back in the box by the time we attack. There are more fast transitions needed but you need the players for it.
  19. Yes, in cup competition there is some luck involved. More than in the league of course because of fever games and knock-out games and everything can happen in one game. I personally don't like this attitude in football that often facts are twisted after games where only one team played and missed a whole bunch of chances and the opponent scored with just one shot on target. After such a game it is often said "a deserved win, they just did not take their chance". For me this is no sense, just pure luck for the winning team on one day. Still if you are better you don't need luck because statistically you are gonna score at some point. Of course you can still go out early in the tournament with bad luck on two days. In my opinion it is quite rare to be the better team in two games and loose on aggregate. To rate a coach just because he won UCL, makes not much sense. It is more the big picture, how you play, tactics, developing, long time stats..still to be at the very top of coaching you need to show that you can win big titles. In my opinion Tuchel is already a world class coach, if he wins CL it will be recognized by more people. Di Matteo is one exception, this was pure luck at least in the final. That he was sacked short after was due to the fact that everybody that knew it was a lucky title. He has not proven since that he is a good manager. If you look at UCL winning coaches in the last 20 years all of the are world class coaches except maybe Benitez and Di Matteo.
  20. ok you would have brought on Rüdiger instead of Azpi because he had a shocker? what if he brought Rüdiger and he had a shocker, you would have brought Azpi? Sounds like nonsense to me.. well you always need a little bit of luck..thats football. He might have had that today but it is no coincidence that he has the best point average of all coaches everywhere he's been coaching so far. Trust me he knows much better than you do. He changed many players today, let them have some game time. All of them who played little the past weeks showed they don't deserve to be in the first 11. Still Chelsea won, next round. All good. City will be a different test, but there will be a different team on the pitch with a different attitude.
  21. This wasn't an easy game and you can't compare this Sheffield with the one you see in premier league these days. This was the biggest game for them of the season. There is no hope in PL so they gave everything on the pitch today. Yes, Chelsea wasn't great today, but there were a lot of changes also to reward some players. Job done. Great run defensively, lucky though to not conceed one today.
  22. lots of complaining here. Can't do it right, can't ya? if you don't do many changes..everybody cries, if you change a lot and it's a tough game against a deep sitting Sheffield. Everybody complaining. What I see: a game under control 1:0. everything alright. Game will be opening up in the second half..
  23. wow..im pretty sure Chelsea can challenge for the title this year. Such a strong defense. This is no coincidence, at PSG i noticed that Tuchel got the team really focussed and working hard for the big games. Most of the really important matches in CL the last two seasons were won through amazing defending with often no shot on target by the opposition. In Ligue 1, this was hardly the case because the mentality of the PSG squad is quite weak and they don't have a broad squad with many players on the same level. The top players hardly had the fear of being substituted. Now he has squad with so many players that challenge for the positions and that's what's makes him strong, rotations. Everybody is involved, it doesn't matter who plays. It is the system and the mentality that matters. Haven't seen this since his time at Mainz, where he often changed half of the first eleven even after a win. In my opinion he really enjoys having no superstar in the team like Neymar or Mbappe. No theater, no side stage from football, only professional players who do their job as told. Actually at BVB and PSG his first seasons were the best, with the nicest football. At PSG it may not seem like it, as they lost against ManU but they dominated the two games massively. Just lost because of the weirdest mistakes. ManU had no chance back then but still came through. After that game, everything changed and it went downhill from there. Really psychological difficult time, squad weren't motivated for ligue 1 at all anymore..before that game they won nearly everything and played amazing football. So maybe it is not so bad he came to Chelsea in the last third of season:). Actually Tuchel is not really known for his defensive style of football. And I think this is a pragmatic approach by him to get the points and challenge for the title. If he has time to train and can implement different systems, it might get much more offensive. Thats what you got at PSG and BVB most of the time, lots of offensive players and possession football with lots of goals and also conceding more goals. So if you think this is boring to watch i might get different after some time;).
  24. I followed Thomas Tuchel since the very beginning when he was at Mainz U19. What I can tell you is, that there won't be any problems with transfers, if the board gets the player that fit the squad. If they just buy random players (Icardi at PSG, a clear Leonardo Transfer, wasted lots of millions, does not fit Tuchels playing style at all) or letting all of the best players leave even though it was promised to keep some (BVB, PSG youth talents). Yes, then there is a Thomas Tuchel who is pissed and will be arguing and not be happy with squad. There were 5 years in Mainz with no transfer problems. In Dortmund there were problems with transfer because of false promises. At PSG Tuchel as Coach wasn't Henrique(first sporting director) choice it was rather the President who chose Tuchel. Then Leonardo came in and was not to fond about Tuchel from the beginning and wanted to sign his own coach which he did with Pochettino after a difficult first half of the season. At PSG there was hardly any money for transfers left because of Neymar and Mbappe. Most of the money they spent for transfers that Tuchel seemed not fond of (Icardi, Paredes). He wanted Kante or Pogba and in the end he got Gueye...Yes Tuchel wants some saying in Transfers, which, in my opinion is normal. Actually the coach should have the major saying in transfers as it is often the case in Premier League. I know it is different at Chelsea but I think he really likes the squad he has now and only sees 1 or 2 changes in personal that could really bring this squad to the next level (like Haaland, and maybe a really good winger..). All in all he is stubborn and always want the maximum of everyone in the club. But if they let him do his job, he will bring the results and could bring Chelsea back to the top for a couple years.
  25. Tuchel never got sacked because of lack of points or performance. In Mainz he wanted to leave in order to make the next step. He did really well there for 5 years always developed the squad and was on average in all years together Top 5 of Bundesliga with Mainz who are usually way down in the table. In Dortmund it was a tough one with the boss who promised to keep at least one of the top 3 players (Mikyhtarian, Gündogan, Hummels). In the end all of them left and he was very unhappy with the squad afterwards. After that trouble with Watzke (BVB CEO) started. There were some weird communication problems between him and Watzke after BVB were part of the terror attack before the Quarter Final in CL against Monaco. In the end Watzke sacked him because he had problems with Tuchel. At PSG he did very well, formed a great team with all the egos somehow put them together. Don't know really know why Leonardo sacked him. They didn't get along at all after he only bought useless Icardi for 50 Million and sold all of the good youth players. After a awful lot of injuries in the first half of the seasons 2020/2021(Mbappe, Neymar, Veratti and Marquinhos were missing lots of games) tons of corona case and many red cards, he had hardly a competitive squad at hand and still managed to be at the top or near (I think two points behind in Ligue 1)in all competition. So he never did run out of ideas or the squad didn't follow. All of this talk about him being such a difficult person after some time comes from the Watzke cause who talked a lot of sh*t after they parted. Tuchel could be with Chelsea for a long period if he gets the support from the board. Brilliant manager who will certainly win trophies.
