the only confilct im aware of is his fall out at ajax a few years ago. what other fall outs has he had valerie?

Robben would be a great signing we all know what he is capable of. Sneijder is a bit hot and cold however i think he will offer us somethink we haven't got, a smaller central midfielder with fantastic technique who can get on the ball in tight situations (like against barca). No way should we get VDV. He is sooo average. If you can't get in the madrid team you aint good enough for ours. He is just a someone who is good on computer games. RVN still class but a bit old. Drenthe NO!

Assuming that Guus leaves (which i hope doesn't happen) i think we should consider Louis van Gaal. Just won the dutch league with the unfashionable AZ Alkmar and has sucessfully managed Ajax and Barca. With this experince you would assume that he would command the respect of the senior players. He speaks very good english and has the look of a man not to be messed with (like Hiddink). He has rececntly been linked with Bayern Munich which can only enhance his credibility. Just an idea!

I normally read this forum regulary but after looking at the reaction to tonights game clearly some of you have no idea about football. before you start slagging me off i play semi-pro so i know the game. In particular (without being racist) the people from outside england have no idea about the english game. The ball was there to be won and he went for it. It wasn't 2 footed and it wasn't mailcious. If you take tackling out of the game half of the fun of the english game has gone.

Personally i have had enough of malouda. In too many games he just disapears ang offers the team nothing. As for Kalou he has been here for a few years now and in all truth hasn't really improved. He is still very hot and cold and doesn't appear to have the mentallity to be a top class player. Assuming we keep using the 433 formation i would pick joe cole and give stoch a few games to see what he can do. As for Kalou i wouldn't get rid as he is ok and given the amount of games we have coming up we will need options.

I agree that duffer and robben did make massive contributions but their proness to injury has increased since they have moved on. For 4 months they were class but after that normal service was resumed and as much as i liked crespo he did really do it if we being honest. We did win 2 titles with duff and robben but you could never really rely on them to be fit when we most needed them. Personally i don't think Arshavin is the answer. he is very hit and miss. If you look at the very top attacking players they do it week in week out. I agree that we have gone backwards in terms of our attacking play but even if duff and robben were still here we probablt wouldn't be better off given their form over the last couple of years. As for improving the squad i am not sure. Lots of names get thrown arbout on this forum but the truely top class players (like duff and robben were) are not really availible such as messi, ronaldo and so on. Yes arshavin is good but i can't see him doing for us what robben produced consistantly for half a season.

Iaqunita is just not world class. He rarely gets in the Juve team when other attacking players are fit and no one stumped up the cash for arshavin in the summer which begs the question how good actually is he? I totally agree that are current attacking options are poor, in particular kalou and malouda but going on about duff and robben in unjustified as since they have been sold they have only played a handfull of games combined. I dont like saying it but we miss Drogba. He really does bring something different and had he been fit (and not not suspended) im sure our record over the past month would have been much better. Anelka scores goals when he can find space but against quality defences and teams that 'park the bus' as we have seen over the last 10 games he aint gonna do the business that a fully fit drogba would do. according to guillem balague's website Robinho will move to chelsea this summer and we are using the kaka speculation to call real madrid's bluff. Hopefully this is true and the announcment is Robinho signing as i believe he will be a great signing for us. Surely the announcment cannot be for a new lampard contract - far to much of a fuss has been made and it would almost be a bit embarassing for the club, especially if we meet his extortionate demands.

According to sky chelsea are to make a major announcement at 5pm today. Any ideas what it might be? New contract for lampard or drogba? New signing - maybe Robinho or Kaka. Anyone have any ideas what it might be?

I don't believe Rijkaard is the right choice. He achieved things at barca when all the players at his disposal were at the top of their games. When things become tough over the last two years he failed to motivate the players and there were widespread reports of dressing room unrest. I watch a fair bit of spanish football and whenever barca have been strugling he was very reluctant to change from a 433 where the front man clearly needed some support. This reluctance to change the system was very clear against man u where rather than puuting Henry up top alongside Eto'o he made him play from the left. I believe Hiddink is the right man. Chels need someone to come in and manage the players with a better level of discipline than Grant did. Hiddink has suceeded with Holland, S Korea and Russia in international football and had club sucess with PSV. Hiddink is more of a coach than a manager and with people at the club like Kenyon, Arnesen and Roman we need someone to get the most out of the players at out disposal and not managing the whole operaton himself. His Holland team in '98 got to the semi's and played attrative football throughout the tournament, something that many chelsea fans crave most (after winning things!). This is just my opinion (& 1st post).
