Modric is only 25 years old. Maybe this year Josh would be happy just to play second fiddle to Modric, but what about the following years when Modric is 27-28 and Josh is 20-21 ? Who would we play ? We couldn possibly play both of them because they re both rather lightly built and play similar roles in the team. Plus, By spending 35 million pounds, we re probably looking for Modric to play first team football for us for the next 6 years solid. He would be an investment, not just for now but for the future too. Sounds great, but this will surely hinder Josh's first team opportunities. I'm just saying for now we have Benayoun who could play the creative role and also make Torres make more productive. Lampard has been our most creative player for the last 6 seasons bar this one. With more fluidity up front, you ll see him finding players just like he used to in the past. Ramires is learning his trade here too. With Sturridge, Torres, Lukkaku ,drogba and Anelka, we would probably find it appropriate to play a 4 3 3 system this year. So that leaves space for 3 midfielders. One of whom is Essien/Mikel, the other Malouda/Ramires and the other the creative player. Let us use Benayoun/ Lampard for now and blood in McEachran.

We might as well play McEachran in the position that we would play Modric and develop him into a better player that Modric is now.Yes, Josh is only 18, but we have seen that he is mature enough to play at the highest level. With the experience of Lamps and Essien to complement Mceachran's youthful exuberance, I dont think we need any more cover in that department.Not for 35 million pounds. We've got Torres, Lukkaku(imminent) and Sturridge who are all going to bring new dimensions into our attack. I'd rather see us looking to sign wing-men rather than more central players.

Besides his goal scoring ability, Lampard has always been the player who finds the intelligent pass to make and the intelligent pass to make is available because another player like malouda or drogba or anelka makes an intelligent run. But over the past year, we ve grown more stagnant and stationary in our movement and that has in turn affected Lampard's impact in a game and he is limited to short passes and ambitious through balls. Once hiddink becomes our manager, the fluidity in our motion will come back and Lamps will continue to do what he does best. Lampard's main asset over the years has been intelligence and ability on the ball .He probably shouldn play 60 games a season but I believe he still has a couple of years of productive football left in him.

He seems to be a right footed left winger with good technique. Really dont want him to be loaned back anywhere though. I haven seen Chelsea use wing-play since the Robben/Duff days. With him and hopefully Arda Turan to come in, wing-play will be back at Chelsea.
