  1. Impossible that Chelsea outnumbered Arsenal fans that day. Though Chelsea had loads in Arsenal seats they deffo didnt come close to the amount Arsenal had in the seats. Highbury helf 57,000 in 84 and i always thought the 45,329 gate was more than that at least 50,000. Dindnt look like you could get another 12,000 in Highbury that day. The side enclosure where the tv camera"s are was well empty and the north bank was far from full to capacity. I think the gate was 50,000 with 20,000 Arsenal and 30,000 Arsenal. At the time the north bank held 19,500 the clock end 16,000 with 17,250 seats and the rest the side enclosures. Arsenal well outnumbered Chelsea in the seats and the north bank so was impossible for Chelsea to outnumber Arsenal.
  2. The old boys reunion is linked to a facebook site called Chelsea when we were sh*t. Silly thing is the site can show pics of Osgood Hudson and co winning the fa cup and cup winners cup early 70s. Though the side is called when we were sh*t its just a Chelsea site covering every era not just the sh*t ones. I agree with everything you say but one thing. I just dont see how 2 poor results at easter cost Chelsea the title when Chelsea won just 2 div 1 games Jan to May 86. You wont win titles doing that. Chelsea beat Luton 1 0 and Man City 1 0. The other home results before easter were Chelsea 1 Oxford 4, Chelsea 2 Leicester 2, Chelsea 1 Qpr 1, The Chelsea lost 4 0 home to West Ham with a 6 0 loss at Qpr just after that. Then Chelsea 1 Ipswich 1, Chelsea 1 Newcastle 1, Chelsea 0 Liverpool 1, Chelsea 1 Watford 5. Chelsea were sh*t at home before easter and after easter dropping countless points you dont win titlkes doing that.

  4. That could be Sunderland fans milk cup semi final 84/85
  5. Look at the top of the fences. You see the small spikes. To put the electric fence up it was added to inwards with barbed wire and the electric cable at the top. When thet was taken out they added more barbed wire. This was done pre Tottenham at home April 85. Its deffo mid 80s shame the bloke who took the pics didnt write the games on the back
  6. Chelsea Sunderland milk cup semi final 85. Chelsea section north terrace looking across at Sunderland.
  7. Portsmouth packed the 2 middle sections so had about 4,500. Portsmouth had a big mob at Chelsea that day. Some got the tube some walked from Waterloo. When my train got into Earls court was a mob of Portsmouth on the platform. They were in the first 3 carridges of the tube i was on. At Fulham Broadway they opened each carridge one by one. Portsmouth was escorted to the ground. Before kickoff as Portsmouth were coming in they ran down in front of the fenced off bit to where Chelsea were in the benches. Loads of Chelsea in the west seats rushwed to the front as well. There are pics on the net of Portsmouth in the North terrace. Because of this they was all rammed into the middle 2 sections when they should really have been allowed into 3 sections. I got in the east upper near the kick off and see some Chelsea run from gate 13 to the benches. But Portsmouth running to wards the benches and that Chelsea mob behind the goal happened before i was in the ground. Afterwards though i didnt see it i know it was going off.
  8. This could be Sunderland milk cup final. Chelsea packed the first section the next half a section was empty and Sunderlnad had other 2/5 sections. This looks like Chelsea looking across at the other teams fans. Has to be 82/83 onwards blue crush barriers. 82/83 and 83/84 Chelsea never packed that first section like that for any game so i think it could be the 84/85 season
  9. Portsmouth ran at benches in front of the fenced off bit and Chelsea came out of gate 13 across the pitch. This is before the kick off
  10. Spurs had a pop at 2 pubs before the game on that part of the kings road. I got told Chelsea then run Spurs down to the where the palmerston was. Years later heard a bloke say i bought a ticket in a pub for a few quid was well chuffed. Said i went across the road to the phone box to tell my mrs i got a ticket. Just as i was telling her the windwos of the pub i was in went in. I then heard off various over the years that Spurs had a huge mob that came form Sloane Square and walked up the Kings Road and on the day both won a few and lost a few. So when i see that article that Spurs had 1,000 tickets unsold and were to scared to come it was laughable. If anyone wants to see pics of the game MIRRORPIX then type Chelsea Tottenham 1982 or Chelsea v and you see hundreds of pics of old Chelsea games. Or Chelsea Tottenham or Chelsea West Ham etc etc.
  11. Spurs had 15,000 tickets the north terrace held 10,500 at the time. I was in the west stand in the last block near the shed and all Spurs around me when they scored 3 goals. This has been disputed a few times over the years. Spurs v Man City prog says £5 seats foir sale Chelsea season ticket holders turning up in the west and werent told was going to be Spurs Match of the day Spurs are 14,000 strong. North terrace held 10,500 and Spurs had 4,500 seats but cos they had 1,000 terrace tickets unsold they had 14,000 not 15,000. It was said Spurs were scared in an articles i dont call 14,000 scared had a huge mob that day as well. Should have had 11,000 25% of the ground but cos they took the seats the police didnt want the north terrace split after all the fighting at the Liverpool game an article on the net said this. Chelsea were kept on the left of the Fulham Road with Spurs from the away end and seats all the right me and my dad included. So Spurs got to use Fulham Broadway tube why Chelsea had to walk past.
  12. Spurs in 82 had 14,000 at Chelsea but had 1,000 terrace tickets unsold. Had 9,000 in the north terrace and 5,000 in the west stand seats. Loads of teams used to have 4 sections Spurs West Ham Arsenal Liverpool Man Utd in the 80s but they were not full and could have fitted into 3 sections. Most of the time the front was empty with hardly anyone on the first few stepsI can remeber teams like Bolton Blackburn Oldham Cambridge and others having less than 100. Leicester had about 70 to 80 in the milk cup 83/84 but bought 6,000 in the lge cup and fa cup recently. I can remeber midlands teams bringing small numbers 80s and QPR 78/79 and Orient 79/80 both bought about 300. I can remember West Ham having 8,000 or so in the north terrace with loads in home areas but a couple of times was nearer 6,000 late 80s same as Arsenal and Spurs. Liverpool packed the away end winning the league in 86 but was well light a few times. Man Utd the same they had the whole end but mid 80s was never full to capacity the front was empty or they were spaced out but from the shed looked rammed..

  14. The Spurs game 78/79 you say Spurs got a good hiding. Loads of Chelsea used to say that Spurs were never in the shed. 78/79 where was the row was it before or during the game and what happened im sure a few would like to know. I heard was about 75 Spurs but you will know better than me. Also the 82 fa cup game ive heard Spurs had about 100 in the shed pre the game but were run out did anyone see it cos i got in the west stand about 2,45 that day and i didnt see anything.
  15. Barnsley wheres the photo of the Chelsea fans behind the goal and at Cambridge though that is Chelsea fans on the far side at Cabridge. I always think alot of games its just 1 photo but surely on the day alot more than 1 photo was took

  17. Werent the new ground going to be like the east stand 3 tiered but all the way round. The plans i see was the lower tier behind both goals terraces with the middle and upper tiers behind both goals seats. Even if you put seats in them areas behind the goal still would have held 54/55,000
