I liked the look of new players but can't imagine we bought these small technically gifted midfielders to then string a dozen passes together between the defenders and holding midfielders followed by a hoof up the pitch by Cech! Still Rome wasn't built in a day.

What's up with Liverpool fans? I've been following comments on a Daily Mail article about Battersea and Liverpool fans keep dissing our club, history, success and ability to fill a bigger stadium. Their unequivocal support of Suarez, lack of respect and knowledge of any club outside of Merseyside and blind belief that they are the biggest club in the world makes them the most arrogant supporters I know. Are there worse fans than Liverpool?

I believe PF has less than a year left on his contract, so the wages will be covered but it doesn't give much encouragement to the youth policy.

totally agree if VDW is only going to be used as back up let's start blooding the younger players. Question is: is this a first team signing or a squad player? I haven't seen enough of him to give an honest opinion.

Few happy years before suffering relegation to Middlesborough. Painful memories:( Back we bounced again and built a new Chelsea. Wise, Townsend, Le Saux. Then Hoddle and a cup final with a team of midgets. 0-4 to Utd Thanks David Ellery and Frank Sinclair. Ruud takes over (Ruud Gullit, surely not!) and sexy football. Zola, lebouf, Dimatteo...happy days. Vialli and the Tinkerman. Champions League...Zola dancing around the scousers to qualify. Roman saves us from bankruptcy again and now we are CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!

Hazard, Marin, Moura .... It's great if we can attract great players to the Bridge but we need to compliment this by bringing through some of our youngsters. Evolution though, not the AVB way.

Sentiment aside is RDM the best man for the job? 1. Man management - psychologist 2. Coaching 3. Tactician 4. Team evolution Whilst still being successful! I have believed for a long time that it's very rare to have one person with all these qualities. Therefore build on RDM strengths by adding a stronger management team around him and then for gods sake be patient!
