Agreed but, in UK, you get to top management by being risk averse - "a safe pair of hands". Venables was a risky appointment in FA terms and they wouldn't touch 'arry with a barge pole. Southgate is the FA type of manager.

"Fast" is av important point. For about 15 years we've been slow as **** in basic things like passing. It's the old "trap the ball, pause, look around, pass" which kills our attacks.
