Plus we'll be under huge pressure. We can win but Roy needs to recognise sooner when things need changing. Subs too late, particularly Sterling.

Day one and Wales are ahead of us in the group...

Nor me. He's done nothing. If Roy is trying to give him playing time and confidence, now is not the time.

Roy seems to like him. Less sure myself but good luck to him.

Thank God he took charge there. We need leaders! Goal!!!!!!

Who here has the familiar 'anticipation of dread' feeling? Russia could well score. Sterling needing a kick up the arse.

He's not playing based on form. Typical England.

How long do you give Vardy? 20 mins at least imo. Nothing ventured...

He's still taking them. I assume he's been told to? V odd and pretty stupid of us.

So, err, why is Kane taking corners and not in the box?

Me too. It's a mad, insane, choice of venue. Fans are going to hate being there and players will struggle to play, and stay healthy, in the heat. Madness.

Pretty shameful whistling of anthems by both sets of fans.

Btw there's a refreshingly positive football phone in on BBC Wales Radio: everyone here is made up just to be in France. Winning a game is another level.

Being selfish, I might be one lack lustre England performance away from a Monday morning in work, in Cardiff, that I'd rather miss. C'mon England!

There's a huge clash of culture between French and UK policing styles. God help us (and all other fans) in Qatar. People are going to get shot and that's not hype. It could happen.

I agree. Perhaps Wenger recognises that Arsenal's style lacks a product and needs to change? If Vardy goes, it'll be very interesting to see how he fits into the team setup.

True Bobby - if he helps win them the league, hid resale value is irrelevant.

I've just checked Arsenal Mania's 'Vardy' thread. There's quite a debate there about whether he'll fit into Arsenal, is he too old, his resale value (!), etc. It's not a move that seems to please all Gooners. I give up with that lot.

I can understand Vardy going to Arsenal but, as others have written, I'm struggling to see his style matching that of Wenger. Is Wenger going to advocate hoofing the ball up to Vardy, contrary to what appears to be his habitual, possession based, passing the ball towards and into the goal style?

Blimey. That's a proper shock tbh. Arsenal buying a genuine striker. Has Arsene finally gotten the message? I wonder how he'll fit into Arsenal's style of play?

What did Giggs do anyway? I never saw a clip of him making notes, chatting to Moyes/LVG. His job seemed to be to look moody.

That's a good analysis. I'd add to that, that we looked a bit aimless at times; someone needed to speak up and motivate fellow players but there are no natural leaders. Re. Kane and Vardy, there's no shame in going route one. Leicester don't pass the ball to Vardy - it's hoofed forward to him. We are picking players and ignoring what makes them a success at club level. I wish I was more optimistic but last night was bad.

I agree but the contest is the thing and we looked slow. I just heard his post match interview and he said (approx) "we played forward patiently from the back and dominated possession". I am concerned that we will fail if we default to patient build ups - pace will be vital to us. I don't mean to slag Hodgson off personally - it's worry mainly.

I am English but living in Wales due to a cost of living thing. :-) It's a great place. Many Welsh fans will follow England in internationals but they have their own side this time. If they beat us, work will be tough...
