There's a lot of speculation about Rafa to Everton. It'd be interesting if that happened. The red Scousers would be well unhappy.

Martinez and Rodgers (please come back to management Brendan) share a neglectful approach to defence. You must start with a competent defence as goals mean little if you concede more than you score. In fairness to Martinez and other managers, I deplore the modern trend of players sometimes deciding not to bother. We've seen it a lot this season, at all types of clubs, and it stinks. Players take the money and should at least put the effort in.

Hughes is an interesting idea. I defer to others with more knowledge of his managerial career but he doesn't yet seem to have stepped up to the top level. If new owners are going to invest in Everton, they might want someone with more of a record at the top level. Poch to Utd is worryingly plausible...it makes more sense on paper than Jose tbh.

That's a good business idea. Sunderland acted sooner than Newcastle to make a change. Had Benitez had more time, perhaps he would have helped keep Newcastle up? Moyes to Everton is an interesting idea. Towards the end of his time at Everton, some fans felt that he lacked ambition but Martinez hasn't improved the team in the medium term. I just wonder whether Everton fans would feel that Moyes was a step backwards?

Agreed. Newcastle v Burton Albion to look forward to next season... Edit: Mike Ashley was a bit cynical. He didn't properly invest in Newcastle for some seasons and, this season, chucked some money at the team to, as he hoped, secure a PL place and a chunk of the TV money. If Newcastle going down gets Ashley away from the club then it will not all be bad for them as he uses the club and does not appear to have ambition.

Good point. Stones has gone backwards this season - he needs a manager who can give him a firm sense of direction and a clear idea of when it's appropriate to showboat and when it isn't. It's needed as Stones could be important for England in the future.

It is hard to wish relegation on any team (well, most). Sunderland seem to have been more practical in (hopefully) avoiding relegation - Newcastle not beating Villa was poor form considering what was at stake. That said, Norwich are 2-1 up!

Sunderland seem favourites this evening. That says a lot about Everton's recent form. Safety is in Sunderland's grasp and I hope they do it.

Good point. They have a serious issue. Some put it down to the hardness of the surface of their training ground. If Walcott goes to West Ham, we'll see whether he can last a season without major injury. It'll be a useful comparison.
