Unless he becomes consistent, he'll never realise his potential. I wonder whether he has a problem with motivation, or his confidence? I don't know but it must be frustrating for fans (CFC and now Evertonians) as he is brilliant when everything clicks. I can't see Martinez being at Everton much longer. Very poor in recent league games and lacklustre here.

That's a fair question. Possibly not - he may have been lucky as you say.

In fairness to LVG, he has brought some very talented youngsters into Utd's first team. Rashford looks promising.

I don't know how a new manager could work out who was willing to work, etc over the summer. When Villa have been so awful (some PL players have scored more goals than Aston Villa this season) where do you start?

I suppose this is the flip side of the modern game - the mercenary nature of some players, the failure to accept responsibility, and the lack of fight. It's pretty shameful and Villa fans have been poorly served. Straight down another division is my prediction, unless they get a decent manager.

This is a good point. Football is a very simple sport and the analysis/pundity circus is 90% just re-hash and waffle. Most of us could talk for at least half an hour about football and notice the same aspects of a game as the 'professionals'.

I hope so too, as the relegation of Villa and Newcastle will show that doing 'just enough' to stay in the PL is not good enough. Ashley has cynically invested, in this one season, to stay up (he hopes) to get the big TV money. I hope it's too late.

Cheers Axman. I'm trying not to get carried away speculating but we do have a chance. It's a pity that Leicester play Swansea next but they will be under pressure, as will we. We seem confident however. What a mad season.
