The Moyes' factor

I have begun to join a small, growing camp of supporters rooting for David Moyes ONLY IF and ONLY IF Hiddink is really going. Hiddink is still my choice of preference.

I took the liberty to examine his record this season so far, against the Top "Four"

(H) vs Liverpool 0-2

(A) vs Arsenal 1-3

(H) vs Manure 1-1

(H) vs Chelsea 0-0

(A) vs Liverpool 1-1

(A) vs Liverpool 1-1 - FA Cup

(H) vs Arsenal 1-1

(A) vs Manure 0-1

(H) vs Liverpool 1-0 FA Cup

(A) vs Manure 0-0 FA Cup on penalties

(A) vs Chelsea 0-0

Since the Arsenal's defeat at the Emirates, Moyes have never lost a game against the Top 4 except at Old Trafford, NEVER conceded more than a goal/ game against these teams and is the only team outside the Top 4 that has not conceded anything to us in 180 minutes' of football, save for Hull. In fact, last night's game is a warning that we must not take them easily, having scalped Liverpool and Manure en route to Wembley.

His feat is credible because other than Jo or Cahill, perhaps Baines too, none of the first-11 would make it into the Top 4 squad. And none of his players are among the leading goalscorer at the Barclays Premiership. They really deserve UEFA qualification next season.

Moyes' endears himself to the neutrals because of his non-confrontational approach and has achieved much with considerably less resources.

His credential is credible too. He nearly led Preston into promotion in his maiden season in 1998 and his knowledge of the trade came from his player/manager role at Deepdale., where he led them from DIv 2 to the 1st Division play-offs in two seasons. He inspires stability, being the Toffee's gaffer for 7 years now and is consistently being linked as Alex's successor.

I certainly hope that Hiddink stays, but my world of possibilities now are : Marcello Lippi, Trappattoni or David Moyes

I think Moyes is a great motivator and likes to give youngsters a chance.

I wanted him to come to chelsea before we apointed Scolari but our board wanted to bring in someone with alot of international experiance-look where the "international experiance" brought us :Laie_48:

He should come in the summer, then give him some cash and give him some time to build a team even if that means not wining any thing next year. We desperadly need some stability at the club

Team From To Games Won Lost Drawn

Everton 15-03-2002 Present 324 136 110 78

Preston 12-01-1998 15-03-2002 234 113 63 58

Dunno about him, he's done well with not a lot and lasted the pace for a fairly young manager - he did however play for Celtic, which from a personal point of view excludes him from all things Chelsea

I like Moyes and wish him all the success if it is not against us.

But I think the risk in getting Moyes is that he's been patiently over the years gathering his team that is very good at the moment(has been good in the past as well though). He has had a lot of time. He knows his team very well. He has bought all the players. If he'd come to Chelsea we'd expect him to make us champions or at least win something. No one will be his player and he wouldn't know how we work here right away. That is the biggest risk. We want to win something right away and not after two seasons.

That is not even his approach. He stated it before the ManU game that he wants to show how a good team is build in stretched time and how that is the 'right way'. I think it is the right way myself but we didn't give Jose and LFS that much time as we dropped to 2nd or 3rd place in the prem and the games weren't going that well. It is not even that sure if we could lure Moyes here if we wanted.

I would love to try with some of our old players accompanied with people who know the team now. Zola-Clarke, DiMatteo-Wise, even. Deschamps woudn't be a bad choice either IMO. I repeat this over and over again but it would just make me love the club even more.
