For those of you who don't know (or most probably don't care) NZ are playing Bahrain in a World Cup qualifying match. I'm real excited as this could be the first time for us in the WC since 1982 (seems so long ago).

Anyway does anyone give the Kiwis a hope of making the wc? They were pretty woeful in the Confederations cup earlier this year buy every dog has his day.

It seems like its going to be very tight. Bahrain is a country with a huge passion for football and if you believe Shaka Hislop, they were very disappointed when they got knocked out by Trinidad & Tobago last time around.

Very excited about this, Was born in 89 so wasnt alive during the 'glory days' of NZ football. Although i didnt watch this match as it was 4am over here I can not wait to see the return leg. Hopefully this gets a lot of attention over here. I think with Shane Smeltz up front we have a player who is more than capable of getting a goal against these guys

The BIG game is live on telly at 7am Saturday Eurosport. It would do wonders for the game in NZ if the All Whites were to win. If they do get through I'm sure all the other countries will be hoping to have them in their pool.

What a match it was as well. Paston saving that penalty was so epic. Smeltzy had an off day but unbelievable result

What a game. I've never seen an NZ crowd like that before, I think today was a special day for football in NZ.
