Goes without saying that the atmosphere and anticipation on Friday night and during saturday is going to be great with the German beers flowing and Chelsea songs echoing out around Munich. But just curious what the atmosphere in the ground is going to be like. Perhaps the Munich lads on here can give me an incline to what it's like. Only mentioning this because I feel grounds like Wembley the atmosphere really does lack as it's so spacious and hard to get the whole end singing constantly no matter who is playing there.

I was in the same stadium during the World Cup and saw Germany play against Sweden, so maybe that gives some sense of what a predominately German crowd would be like. It's definitely a massive stadium and I was in the middle tier - I felt quite far from the pitch but the overall atmosphere was pretty good. I was sitting in a mainly German section and, while they weren't exactly doing the bouncey, it was fairly lively.

The atmosphere is already getting going in the city from what I've seen on tv and from tonight the fans will start pouring into town. The stadium atmosphere ranges from so-so to incredible depending on the occasion. You can safely assume it will be the latter on Saturday !

Zippy- would I be correct in assuming that Bayern Munich got allocated the same number of tickets to sell via the club as Chelsea (17,500 I think)?

And don't Bayern Munich have what they consider to be a home end? behind one of the goals there is normally big flags and get the impression this is where the hardcore support is situated. Is that the end that Munich have been allocated for this game do u know?

Yes Bayern got the same 17,500 tickets as you and had to split them between the 1,200,000 that applied ! The German FA got 9,000 tickets but they were sold ages ago.

Bayern have both ends at normal home games, the away block is in the north west corner but the end where the noisiest support stands is the Südkurve which Bayern have been allocated for this game. Chelsea have the Nordkürve. Bayern's fans will certainly have some choreography planned for the game as Chelsea's will too I imagine.
