Is there anything significant in Michael Essien being left out of the Champions League squad list? Suggests he'll play in the Premier League I guess, but I wonder whether Van Ginkel couldn't have been included on Squad List B  for the Champions League.

No MVg couldnt be in the B list, you have to be in the registered for the club for 2 years before you can be in the B squad. This isnt a problem for the PL but it is for the CL. Its says alot about JM's faith in him if he picked him over Essien.

I wonder whether it's to do with the recent passing of his father as I expect he has or will be returning to Ghana.
