The text"ellis" Campaign

Featured Replies

As a Leicester City supporter, I hope you all don't mind me joining your forum, but there is good reason!

My son suffers from a rare chromosome disorder called MECP2 Duplication Syndrome, which affects many aspects of his development. Recently a breakthrough has been made in research and a cure is now a possibility!

Due to how rare his condition is, there is no funding available from the government, so we are having to raise the money ourselves. As his Daddy, I'm not prepared to sit and do nothing to fight for my little boys future!

This season I have cycled to every Leicester City away fixture, promoting a text code and number. Anyone can donate to the cause by simply texting MECP77 followed by £1, £2, £3, £5 or £10 to 70070.

At the start of the season I set myself the target of raising £100,000 towards the research....so far after cycling over 3000 miles to 21 different grounds, through heavy winds, snow, rain and freezing conditions, the total currently stands at over £70,000! With just two games to go I need all the help I can get and considering we will be in the Premier League next season, I thought I would come onto a few Premier League forums to promote the campaign!

More information on the challenge and my sons condition can be found at http://www.textellis.com or you can visit my JustGiving page http://www.justgiving.com/textellis. I really hope that some of you would like to donate to the campaign, even if it is just £1 EVERY little helps!

You can follow our progress on Twitter @textellis or "Like" us on Facebook www.facebook.com/textellis

We may support different teams, but sometimes things are that little bit more important in life!

Richard

Done mate, good luck. Everything crossed for you and your son. As you say, things like this put a defeat in a sport into perspective.

Thank you :) Appreciate your donation....like I said above I need all the help I can get to try and reach the target. You are right though, it certainly puts football into perspective!

I can't begin to imagine what your going through, but as a dad of a little 2 year old girl I know I would the same as you and battle away doing anything to help her.

It's amazing what you are willing to do for your son/daughter if required! I'm amazed with the support I've received this season....£70,000 is a huge amount of money which will go a long way to funding the research....but I would love to hit the £100k target :)

As you say we would do anything for our children, but most of us are very fortunate not to have to.  I can't use the texting thing as I live in France, but have donated through JustGiving.  Good luck!
