Hello, I'm John. I'm a Man United fan and have been since 1962. I joined this site as I have a soft spot for Chelsea considering that one of my favourite United managers after SAF and Sir Matt was Tommy Docherty. I had the pleasure of meeting the Doc some years ago.

Chelsea v United was the second ever game I saw United play live. The first was v Arsenal at Highbury and then Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - this would be back in 1964/65 season. United lost, I do remember that.

My other reason for my affinity towards Chelsea is that Oscar is the absolute spitting image of my own son - I enjoy watching Oscar play and imagine it's my lad out there. My lad is just 15!

I'm a big admirer of Mourinho and wish United had got him when SAF retired. I also admired (through gritted teeth) the no-nonsense way Chelsea moved to grab Pedro from under our noses, although I suspect that he was always more likely to end up at Chelsea than Old Trafford.

Anyway, that's my intro.

What a lovely introduction!  Welcome - we will do our best to convert you!  AS an admirer of Tommy Docherty and Jose Mourinho, you['re already half-way there!

We have another rival fan on here, whom we have nicknamed Spudulike - I can't even remember what his original name was!

Maybe you will eventually become Manculike!

Do feel free to look around the threads - there's the Random Chat, the Slightly Peeved thread, the Things That Annoy you etc etc in the Shed End Lounge.

Agree with Moi.

Hello and welcome paitonboy. We have a number of 'rival' fans and your intro bodes well for you to be among the welcome ones. Enjoy the forum and look forward to you posting.

Thanks all...No, not a Cockney Red (you think I would fall for that one?) I did have a lot of mates who were Cockney Reds who came up regularly for games.

I was born just outside Manchester in an executive enclave called Prestbury. Made famous because George Best lived there. I have no idea why my mother gace birth there as it was about 10 miles from where we lived and we were as working class as you could get. My earliest games in London came about because we lived in Stevenage from 1963 to 1966.

I also have a lon time friend and colleague weho I've known since 1980 and who is a Chelsea fan. He's from Bath,

It's one strange season thi year, and open for up to eight teams to win the title due to inconsistencies. I think the best Chelsea can hope for is about 7th as they are too far back. I'm under no illusions United will win it this year either as we can't hit a barn door.
