Argo
I like both, I think both while not the best technical players about, offer good qualities to the side. But the technical qualities, or lack off in lies the problem of those two playing together, it just doesn't work and causes so many attacks to break up. Pedro's movement and one touch combination play is brilliant, that's why he worked so well with Messi and Villa in that all conquering Barca side of 2011, that's also a reason I think he is the best equipped out of all our AMs to combine with Hazard to deadly levels. But he isn't the best technical player and I'd hate to think what his take on success rate is, but that's not just his fault, if we keep him we need to play to his strengths. Now to Costa, I think growing up as a street footballer explains why he isn't the most pleasing on the eye player, but he's a bloody good striker, his unbelievable movement and timing gives not only him but his team mates many openings to chances, (the best example has to be Arsenal in 2014 when he dragged Mertsaker wide and left Koscielny at Hazards mercy, resuling in a penalty and Eden duly opening the scoring) and when Remy, 36 year old Drogba and Traore have played in his absence, we don't create even half the chances, neither did Atletico season after they sold him, not a coincidence. Also his mentality and spirit is amazing, not everyone's cup of tea but I like a lot. But in my opinion we can only really afford one player in attacking areas with serious technical limitations regardless of what else they bring to the table, both have good arguments in their case, but on balance id rather keep Costa, if Conte can get a fully fit and form season out of Diego, I can easily see a 30 goal season.
