I got an odd request from Kanal Lokal Sweden for some photos from the second leg of the Cup Winner's Cup tie between Atvidaberg and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 1971. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and we were knocked out on away goals after having clobbered Kaerjeng 21-0 on aggregate in the first round (8-0 and 13-0)! For anyone interested, Glascow Rangers won it that year, beating Dinamo Moskva 3-2 in the final (after beating Bayern in the semi's).

But back to the issue at hand, anyone able to help out?

Cheers,

Butch

Sorry, can't help with any pics, Butch, but there might be some in the following home game programme. Probably not though, as they usually concentrated on pics from away games, but it's worth a try.

The Atvidaberg game was played on 3 November 1971, and the next home game was against Nottm.Forest on the 6 November - bit too soon I should think. We then had four away games (all of which we won!), and the next home game after that was at home to Glasgow Rangers for Chopper's testimonial on 23 November. We had Spuds at home on the 27 November, but I doubt there'll be any in there.

I remember the Atvidaberg game fairly well - we were expected to cruise through, but struggled. We'd have got through but for John Hollins missing a penalty icon_twisted.gif

Butch! you mentioned that we beat "Kaerjeng" 21-0 in the previous round, who are they? I am sure it was a village team from Luxembourg with the unpronounceable name of Jeunesse Hautcherage or suchlike, and I think this may still be a record aggregate score in Europe? corrections welcome!!!!.

John.

You're right, it was Jeunesse Hautcharage from Luxembourg's 3rd.Division. The 13-0 game was really boring icon_lol.gif , and in the end we were cheering the Jeunesse team - not much to cheer though!
