Not trying to be the "big un" here, but I was able to get into the Chelsea In America room the night prior to the AC Milan game.  Gary Chivers, Gary Stanley, and Spy (Neil Barnett) were in there doing a "star on a stool" type Q&A with the folk in there.

 

They were all asked about youth and playing for the club.  Both Gary's talked about being Chelsea fans, etc.  Then Spy talked for a little while and here are bullet points on a few interesting take a way's 

 

1) He thinks that Tomori is possibly closest to breaking into the first team from the current group.  

2) Had a lot of good things to say about Mousonda (including how he almost never existed!)

3) Thinks Tammy Abraham has the character, but probably not the skill set to make it...unless he can grow into a better player, his Character can't take him all teh way.

4) Solanke is the opposite from Tammy in that he has the skill, but not sure if he truly has the character (easy Brendan) to make it at Chelsea

5) One of the reasons we have so many kids on loan, is that when we give them a contract these days, they get a 2 yr guaranteed Pro contract too.  Explains how, with such a vast recruiting network, that we are seeing so many kids on loan.  He even admitted this was bizarre

6) Christensen needs to be in the first team as soon as he is done in Germany.

I'm no expert on youth, but doesn't his scoring record indicate he has the skillset? He is admittedly unproven at senior level, but he can only beat what's in front of him and seems to have done that with aplomb. 

Im suprised jay dasilva hasnt been involved in preseason with the 1st team, he is probably the best full back prospect in europe for his age, we are crying out for a left footed full back, and although he us pretty small still, his pace like ashley cole's, will get him out of trouble more often than not.

Id say he is a better player than luke shaw was at his age, and he was playing for a good southampton team before being snapped up by united.

I would love to see him fast tracked, instead of us signing another left back.

If you watch Tammy play though he often looks 'awkward'. I don't think he was taking away his achievements, just saying he needs to technically improve to make it at the highest level.

Yeah, that's more what he was saying.  Just needs that "little extra" if he were to make it in the first team
